Why haven't you been able to build your dynasty? Topic

I'll go first. 1 out of every 4 seasons I suck at recruiting, which leads to a rebuilding year where I miss both tourneys or exit the PIT after 1 round. This keeps me from ever getting past B+ prestige.

Plus, I'm in the highest-rated conference in DI Naismith, the ACC. If you don't bring it every season you'll get embarrassed here. 1 bad recruiting cycle and you're looking at a 5-11 or 6-10 conference record.

Plus, I'm crap and putting together a schedule usually.

ditto here...yeah, a good season every now and then...usually with players I inherit. I used to beg for help but I never could find one of the experts to take me under their wing and teach me what I needed to know to be good. So I am with you vegaskevin......****** recruiter...terrible scheduler, but you know what? I still enjoy getting up in the morning and seeing how I did. I read everything gillipse1 writes. I asked him for help once, but I was turned down. That was the opportunity that passed me by.

First I never ever post here, ive sucked every year for 90+ seasons so dont feel bad boys over 2100 wins and not a damn thing to show for it.i can win all day in conference as soon as NT rolls around in done before it starts. Sad I led Kentucky State to 27 straight NT appearances and one elite 8 to show for it. I just enjoy playing I'll never win a championship but it's fun to past the time with. I dont ask for help cause I dont think it would help I get outcoached by every human coach I face

i turned you down? that doesnt really sound like me. i definitely could have missed your message completely or declined due to broadness or something. i'm usually happy to help anyone, but i do have moods where i can't stand to look at this game. i also used to refuse to help with teams once the NT started but i sort of dropped that 5ish years ago, but really not sure when you are talking about. but regardless, my apologies!

Help ALWAYS helps! But a couple things to add...... 1) if you made 27 NTs straight and only one E8 to show for it, you have experience. I'm going to guess that your talent is the bigger issue. I haven't looked at your team(s) while writing this. But game planning can help you take your game to the next level. But with the right talent, you may not even need game plans to go on a lucky run. It happens sometimes.

2) everyone has heard this story a dozen times but I'll tell it again....... I was you. I played 58 seasons from '07-'10 and never got out of the 2nd round. I never asked for help. I left and didn't return until April of '17. Since then I've won 11 titles and I feel a sense of failure if I DON'T get past the 2nd round every season. What changed my career is asking for help. There is a handful of coaches out there that help lots of people. Including myself. In fact, the current board of "recent HD champs" on your home profile page, I've helped in some manner at some point in time with almost all of them.

You built a great team down there. I considered moving south, too.

Well, just when I thought I was approaching the edge of a dynasty, both my "on the fence" and "likely staying" went into the draft. My prestige did rise from B to B+ after elite 8 run in D1 world 1.

Next season is now looking horrible - 6 openings, 1 signed in the early recruiting period, 1 considering me highly for the late period.

I will drop back down to B after next season and have around 10 sophs/fresh the following season unless I hit the motherload on transfers this season.

With 4 seniors next season I better sign some transfers this recruiting period 2!

At least I got some cash and attention points to use in the next recruiting phase for my early entrees.

Appreciate the good words sir, I really enjoy the game I just have never ask for help. And I think you hit it on the head its the players I recruit they are good but not great so every season I lose to better athletic teams I dont mind the help if someone reaches out I'll sure listen

I think the reason I can't build my dynasty is I'm recruiting in a region against a ton of D1 and D2 teams. I usually get 1 or 2 really good players in a recruiting class, but teams in other regions who don't have as many schools to compete against are able to get players just slightly better than half my recruits, so I'm always just below the talent level of a lot of teams, so I can't seem to get out of the 2nd round. I'm learning by watching what the top dogs in D3 are doing and I'm hoping to take some of their strategies to at least become consistent in the sweet 16 and hopefully make a deep run every now and then. Recruiting has never been my problem. I always have a deep team, I just seem to be 1 step behind the top tier and I'm trying to find out what I'm missing.

Well after my two guys got drafted I went from B+ to A-.

With the new cash from my EE, I was able to sign a 5 star international I was only "High" on before recruiting period 2 started. I had 6 openings and was able to sign 4 junior transfers and 2 freshmen. Of the freshman, one is solid, but won't ever be drafted, the other is great and probably another EE (predicting after his junior season).

I did redshirt one of the transfers - it won't help him much ratings-wise, but at least I'll have a backup SF the two following years with a decent IQ.

Only I have just 3 scholarships next year, I probably should have signed one less transfer. I wish I had more cash to threaten with considering my new personal high A- prestige.

I'll probably need a little bit of luck to make the big dance this season, but I think the PIT is attainable. In my next 2 seasons I have 3 and then 5 openings to fill. If I can stay at B+ I think I'll make a run at building a "dynasty". If I can't, I'll just keep having peaks and valleys.

I haven't built a dynasty because I like to switch teams and start a new rebuild every 10-12 seasons. Its a serious problem.

Rebuilding is one of the most frustrating, fun, and rewarding parts of the game. Sometimes you just have to stick around a little longer to reap the rewards :)
