Can someone explain the pitcher stamina issue? Topic

Can someone explain this pitcher stamina death spiral? It seems like you can have a full staff do everything right but eventually your team will have 8+ pitchers at 0 stamina.

How is this avoided? And why is this a thing in this game?

Can you share some examples? I don’t see that as a problem if the staff is properly managed with the right combination of pitchers.

I have also never experienced this "issue".

Never heard of it.

I've only ever heard of it happen due to complete owner neglect ie absenteeism.

I appreciate the responses.

So I am brand new to HBD and I trying to learn this game I log in every day and for the last week I have been trying to fix this issue with all my minor leagues. Some of these guys have been on the inactive list for 2-3 days and still are showing 0 stamina. This link will take you to 4 screen shots of my AAA, AA, High-A, and Low-A teams.

Minors can be especially tricky as there are typically a combination of low Stamina SP's and lousy ratings, so they get beat up a lot. Relievers will often have lower durability than you'd like too, which adds to their recovery time.
And if you run a pitcher into the ground (it happens) - for instance pitching several games while at 0(0), it'll take longer to recover.
So for minors I'd run with 13 pitchers at least, and keep an eye on STA and DUR for all of them. One of your levels had SP's with low STA, and that will always get you in trouble.

If you keep 12 + pitchers in your minors with at least 6 sp and let the sim handle it your good. The only time ive had issues is if I tried to handle it and I hate managing the minors as it does nothing towards winning.

Also once a player hits 0 he will take a long time to come back if he was pitched at 0 then it amplifies it.

Esp for Minors, I try to run 7-8 long STA players. I set my LR to pitch 45-60 PC, not to their max STA rating. And I'll allow them to Pitch at 95%. But the managed PC for the LR usually means they very seldom Pitch to depleted STA.

And, yeah, once they hit 0(0), its a deep hole to dig out of...

And if you don't have enough pitchers, your position players will be used, and when they hit 0(0) you are well and truly f'd.

I typically have 30 players on each minor league team - 15 position players and 15 pitchers. So then I always have 2 position players and 3 pitchers inactive at any one time.

Also, I like all of my pitchers to have a total stamina+durability rating of 100 or better. So with a staff of 15, with each pitcher having sta+dur of 100+, I pretty much always have a total staff stamina+durability rating of 1,500+. With this approach, I rarely have any fatigue issues with my pitching staffs.

This is probably more conservative than a lot of owners shoot for. 1,300+ is probably good enough.

This is typically something that is seen on a squad who neglects his minor league staff. It is also common for a mid-season replacement owner to have to deal with this for at least a quarter of the season. The only way to get them out of the 0(0) is to continue to rest them. Often times, the team doesn't have enough horses to rest the fatigued players so you might need to go to the tryout camp and sign some fodder to fill in while these guys are resting.

GM--->Contracts--->Tryout Camp Report.

Eventually the 0(0) moves to 0(7), (7)20, etc. However, depending on how long they have been pitching on 0(0), it could take up to 50 game cycles.

Another thing to do is simply release the player that is at 0(0). This is assuming the player is no good and a non-essential player, but since you can deactivate players in the minors, releasing a player should be only an extreme option.

I mean I legit jungled these guys for a week and they just kept getting worse and worse the lesson to be learned is to have more than 25-26 folks on my minor league squad.

I appreciate the help guys, I am doing my best to learn the various games but this one is the hardest and the most time consuming. I'll get there I promise.

With the use of "Inactive" players on minor league rosters, I usually run minor league pitching staffs anywhere between 15-20 regular pitchers. And even then if you get a few injuries and extra inning games, might have to dip into the "break glass in case of" warm body guys.
