We will use this thread for the Yankees draft. italyprof will be running this once I have the drafts all set up. Everyone please keep in mind the esteemed professor lives in, duh, Italy (6 hours ahead of US Eastern Time).

Draft rules are simple:
25 round serpentine draft
You may draft any player in the WIS database who played for the Yankee franchise (no twisting - you must roster a version of the player from your franchise. If you draft Ruth, you must roster one of his Yankee seasons, etc.)
Partial/full/combined seasons are all ok.
Franchises are defined by www.baseball-reference.com. Please make sure you know your franchise history.
Players are exclusive. There will be only 1 version of Ruth, 1 Gehrig, 1 Rivera, etc.

This draft will be untimed provided things move along efficiently. I don't have a hard and fast rule on this, but I see no reason we shouldn't be able to get through at least 3 rounds on average each day. If any of our six drafts are consistently lagging behind that goal, or if one draft is way behind the others, I reserve the right to put any such draft on a timed schedule.


The rest of the league rules are also simple:
100M cap.
24 teams, standard WIS format
No WW, AAA, trades, clones, DH.
Injuries will be on. Please make sure you roster enough PA and IP to make it through the season. Themes like this really suffer – and are less fun for everyone – if one or more teams go into a fatigue death spiral.

Even numbered rounds will be the reverse. The draft can now begin.

Normally, I would be bummed that I am picking 4th, but the $100 million cap changes how this draft will go.

When do we start ?

italyprof will sitemail the owners in this draft when he is ready to start. He is in Italy, and occasionally has very busy days with his teaching. If he is unable to get things underway within a few hours, I will formally launch the draft this afternoon.

No, there will be no league number until all the drafts are done

We are waiting on urband, but he can pick any time now.

I will keep a running list of who has picked whom, moving it to the current page each time as necessary, so it should be immediately visible upon coming here for all to see who has been picked already.

What is everybody's drafting schedule? I am in the midwest and am able to make picks from 8 am until close to midnight. If I'm one pick away, I don't want to wait up only to later find out somebody is offline at 8 pm CST.

Im on Central time as well

If we're up late making picks, I will typically let folks know when it's my last pick, so I don't make others wait up for no reason.

I will be up for maybe two more hours, till about 8 pm EST, 7 pm Central time.

I will be awake before anyone in the US probably, and will check in on any picks that were made while I slept, so I can update by early morning for most of your times.

urband has not opened the sitemails from me, so maybe he is at work or out for the moment. As soon as he picks I will too, and if that happens after I am asleep, schwarze has proxies from me for the first two rounds so that the draft can continue and not be interrupted by my own time zone issues.
