The No Whining Progressive Early Edition (NWPEE) is looking for a new owner for our New York (NL) franchise.
As an incentive I will be offering a free team to any owner who will take this team agree to stick with this league for at least 2 or 3 seasons.
The previous owner has gone dark and not responded to or opened any SM's for a while now... with the league is due to start in about a week, so we need someone reliable on board.
The draft is underway and we have a good owner making proxy picks for the moment...
If you're interested, here's the poop on what the NWPEE is all about...
- We are a dual progressive about to enter our 26th Season, 1910/1975
- Owners are expected to be responsible for their teams. That is... make your picks in a timely manner... keep track of your keeper lists... deal respectfully with the other owners... and enter your team without undue delay. We understand life can get in the way, but if that is the case, please let us know so we can take appropriate steps. Our Constitution (available in the league forum) spells out all of our rules and what it says goes. Owners are strongly encouraged to read it over... or at the very least not whine about being on the wrong side of anything that has been officially spelled out for all to see.
- In order to discourage tanking, the NWPEE has a completely random draft order. The draft order is determined at or around the All-Star Break. And yes this means that the eventual WS champion can end up drafting 1st over all. Rounds then proceed in a serpentine fashion. i.e. 1-24, 24-1, 1-24, 24-1... and so forth.
- One of the unique features of the NWPEE is that, in order to ensure that there is a constant flow of good players available (and to mitigate somewhat the effects of the random draft), the NWPEE employs Contract Points. They operate much like a salary cap. Every team has a Contract Point ceiling of 80. Contract points are the equivalent of Years. So, if I draft rookie Gary Carter in the upcoming draft and allot him 11 Contact Points, I would own his rights from the 1975 season until the 1985 season. He will then return to the pool of draft-able players. Once "signed", a contract is ironclad, with a very few special exceptions. These are the numbers you will see beside each player on the available teams.
If you have any questions, please feel free to SM me...
