It is looking good for Rolen and Schilling.
if past is prologue based upon current voting Bonds and Clemens will fall short again.

All 4 deserve it, but I think Bonds and Clemens may need to wait one more year. Hopefully they gain enough to do it next year.

Next year Ortiz and Rodriguez and Rollins and papplebon are in the ballot and Visquez continuing his climb.

The voting is over. It is the ballots being made public which is the subject of the tracking.
Approximately one third of the ballots have been disclosed by the voters.
the final tally will be made public I think it is January 25.
in the past bonds and Clemens do well on the early posted ballots but poorly on the rest so the experts say they are not getting in this year.

Next year's ballot will create a logjam again. In addition to the players you mentioned Prince Fielder, Mark Teixeira, Ryan Howard, and Joe Nathan also make their debut. It's going to cause some writers to make some tough decisions on whether they have to drop players to add one of the newbies. Should be interesting!

Cheaters dont 'deserve' anything

Dale Murphy deserves to be in.
It's hard to say a 2 time MVP, 7 time all-star, 5 time gold glover, 4 time silver slugger doesn't belong in the HOF.
His numbers have been hurt by the numbers from the steroid era.
If you look at where he ranked in the categories that matter, AT THE TIME HE RETIRED, they were pretty impressive.
I wrote an open letter to the Baseball Writers over 20 years ago & I documented his where he ranked in certain categories when he retired, and where he ranks if you take out steroid era guys- whose numbers are artificially enhanced. The steroid era players' numbers make the numbers from the 70s & 80s look pitiful, but those guys should be judged against their peers, not a bunch of Hulk Hogan wannabes. Every offensive stat is inflated. Even if a particular player didn't juice, his numbers still benefited from being surrounded in the batting order by juicers. More runs scored, more RBI opportunities, etc.
i wish i still had that research, but that was a long time ago.
The Hall of FAME should include the biggest names of each era. Dale Murphy was as 'famous' as any player during his time. NO player was more like by the fans. While that alone shouldn't determine who gets into he Hall of FAME, name it something else if it doesn't matter at all.

With 148 ballots in representing 37.4% of the total ballots nobody has 75% but schilling is at 74.3%.
Schilling will get in and Rolen will be close.
Bonds and Clemens Inc. will be at the same level as they have been.

Rolen was a very good player, but his stats are very similar to Ron Santo. Ron didn't get close with the BBWAA. Does Rolen deserve to get in more than Santo? I thought Santo's snub was undeserved. It's all subjective I suppose...

The game has changed so much. KO and HR are up, BA, IP are down. Launch Angle means more than making contact. SB have lost value.

We will never have a 300 game winner, or Starters with multiple complete games again.

I think therefore we have to judge players by the era they played in.

Schilling was one of the best big game pitchers I’ve seen.

im from Philly, so I consider Rolen a crybaby, but was he one of the best 3B of his era? I think Cey was better but he retired 13 years before Rolen started. Cey was overshadowed by Schmidt. I guess Rolen goes in.

Love Howard and Rollins. For the first 6 years Howard had HOF credentials, but was injured and never the same. Rollins was the voice of 5 playoff, 2 NL Championships and a World Series Winner, but Jeter was better. They will both have their number retired but won’t make the Hall. The Philly from that era that should is Utley, best offensive 2B of the era, and underrated defensively and as a base runner.

Also I’m with milest, no cheaters! If you start putting them in, then put in Shoeless Joe!

I’m with everyone that says no to the cheaters.
Santo was robbed and Rolen belongs.
so does Rollins and Utley.
I detest Schilling as a person but he very very clearly belongs.

and in keeping people with 2 careers like bonds and Clemens out I say accountability must matter.

Santo, Rolen, Schilling, Rollins, Utley are not amongst the greatest players of all time...It ridiculous to even consider them hall-worthy...
