Triple Year Team Unit Progressive ~ New (2in) Topic

Triple Year Team Unit Progressive

is taking applications!! So i recently ran a league that had to do with using
units from the same year same team but i thought how could i make that idea into a long lasting idea
So I was thinking.

Each real MLB team in WIS is divided into searchable Units

Catchers
Corner infielders
Middle Infielders
Outfielders/DH
Starting Pitchers
Reliefs Pitchers

We will use the years 1901/1939/1977 to make sure we have enough players

MY idea is to build a team drafting those units and you get those players.
If you draft the 1977 Phillies OF you get all the players listed as OF as there primary position

Key thing to remember when searching is Set it to position(C,DH,MI,CI,OF,SP,RP) and min games to 0 but
DO NOT SELECT SECONDARY POSITIONS..you only get the player in his primary position
so 1989 HOJO is owned by 1989 NYM CI and thats it...Now you can play any owned player at any position.

1901 and 1939 will only be pitchers so those years set it to just P. 1977 will be SP and RP

We will commence with a 11 round draft

Rosters must consist of

0-1: Designated Hitters (Only AL 77...some year all teams will not have a DH)
1-2: Catchers Units(c) example 1977 NYM Catchers
2: Corner infielders Units(CI)
2: Middle Infielders Units (MI)
2: Outfielders
3:total pitchings units: Any combo of Starting Pitchers
and Reliefs Pitchers.

You can choose an extra catching unit or DH unit as your choice

I decided to split the infield do to some teams having dominant infields like some
of the Yankees teams in case your wondering.

Teams that switch cities are considered the same so when the Giants move from NY to SF if you owned the Giants and kept them you would get the SF team the following year.

You can use as little or as much as you want from a squad. You could use all your starters from one and none from the other if you please

Just like a progressive when we go to the next year you dont get those players but those specific units so i would get the 1978 PHillies OF and so on

Each Subsequent year we will set up a draft as needed if anyone doesnt want the next years unit. Leftover teams, teams not keep and expansion teams will be the draft pool. Draft order will be in worst to first non serpentine style. Initial draft will be serpentine style
Tiebreakers will be home wins and then least runs scored if still tied.

This format eliminates some of the things that stink about
progressives:

Building a long draft list(sometimes players get forgotten)
Drafting (people missing picks or taking forever to draft). Drafts will be very short and maybe even not needed each year
Tanking (really no reason since from year to year keeping your squad you get those rookies)
Starting to play...it will be almost instaneous depending if
anyone wants to draft from whats available
No long keeper lists or IR or utilizing a minor league list

and adds some new nuances

New strategies?? Do i draft a SP unit thats going to be amazing in a couple of years
Not all the best players are going to play from year to year...there going to be leftovers teams and players that have
potentially great players on it
Traded players: This gets interesting because some elite players will bounce around to different owners year to year.
Paying attention to the history of baseball...not everything is at it seems with Team names.

Salary Cap: 120 million hard cap to prevent hoarding
Clones: No
DH: YES
Traded Players initial year: They are owned by the team they started on....unless that team is not selected by an owner
Split Seasons: PLease use the part used by has your team listed it can be full, partial or whatever as long as its the team unit you own
AAA: Nope bring your best 25 player no matter if you have about 50
Trading: Preseason only and not the initial season...you still have to meet roster requirements....like you cant have 3 sets of outfielders and someone have only 1 and an extra pitching staff
Stadium: I like uniqueness so sign up for your EXCLUSIVE Stadium upon signup. IT will be interesting because you will have no clue what players you might get!
WW: No

Future Thinking

If this league takes off when we reach the 1924/1962/2000 Season i'd like to expand to 30 owners
WE will have an expansion draft. Each of the previous 24 teams will get to keep 5 units they previously owned and the other 6 go back
into the expansion draft pool. Yea i know the records aren't kept if you expand teams. 1962 will now revert to SP and RP. So 1961 owners will get to decide if they want the starting pitching or relief portion...They can decide to keep both. Max 2 pitching staff kept!
. The expansion draft will be the 6 new owners drafting 5 units from the leftovers and non keepers. Then a 6 round draft will commence to draft the rest of the units. There will be 66 MLB teams to chose from at that point.

I’m in . If people do want to draft a new group between seasons, how does that work? Let’s say the 79 Philly catchers just suck and the 79 As are unclaimed?

its just worst to first non Serpentine style how many people want to draft new team units. You could be the only one or it could be half the league. If you are the only one you can claim who you want if not it goes to a draft. I'm thinking from year to year the drafts will be fairly small until maybe we add the marlins, rockies, d-backs and rays...that is a long way off though

I really thought this was going to fill. I thought it was outside the box and a little different than the average progressive that requires a lot of strategy. Lets put it at the top and try again
