We will use this thread for the Senators/Twins draft. footballmm11 will be running this one, and we'll get started once I have the drafts all set up.
Draft rules are simple:
-- 25 round serpentine draft
-- You may draft any player in the WIS database who played for the Twins franchise (no twisting - you must roster a version of the player from your franchise. If you draft Johan Santana, you must roster one of his Twins seasons, etc.)
-- Partial/full/combined seasons are all ok.
-- Franchises are defined by www.baseball-reference.com. Please make sure you know your franchise history. The Twins franchise was known as the Washington Senators from 1901-1960, and has been known as the Twins since 1961. They have always played in the American League. The Washington Senators team that existed in the AL from 1961-71 is NOT part of this franchise. Neither are any of the teams that played in Washington in the 19th century. And obviously the modern day Washington Nationals are not part of this franchise either. I expect this draft is the one most likely to have a mistake, given the proximity of the two modern iterations of the "Washington Senators" team in the AL.
-- Players are exclusive. There will be only 1 version of Johan Santana, 1 Kirby Puckett, 1 Walter Johnson, etc.
This draft will be untimed provided things move along efficiently. I see no reason we shouldn't be able to get through at least 3 rounds on average each day. If any of our six drafts are consistently lagging behind that goal, or if one draft is way behind the others, I reserve the right to put any such draft on a timed schedule.
The rest of the league rules are also simple:
100M cap.
24 teams, standard WIS format
No WW, AAA, trades, clones, DH.
Injuries will be on. Please make sure you roster enough PA and IP to make it through the season. Themes like this really suffer – and are less fun for everyone – if one or more teams go into a fatigue death spiral.
Park: Any that the Senators/Twins franchise called home
