DITR mining - does Inactivating work? Topic

Greetings,

Experimenting with the strategy of making the guys you don't want to be named DITRs inactive during the all-star break so the "right" players can be named. Done this twice, and in each league got only 1 DITR. It seems making the others inactive doesn't increase chances the right guys get tagged DITR, it just prevents the inactives from getting tagged.

Has this strategy worked for you?

I used to utilize this strategy. I'm still in search of what exactly causes you to have more or less DITRs, but one thing I'm pretty positive about is the more candidates you have with the right criteria, the better the chance you have of getting multiple. So if you have more candidates inactive, you're probably going to get less DITRs.

However, I would much much much rather have 1 DITR hit that I like vs 3 guys who might not make the majors. So I don't regret that strategy whatsoever. Right now I try and set up my minors to where the only players I have are prospects, elite DITR candidates and guys who aren't eligible. And like clockwork, I get 1 every year lol. But that 1 is usually a big league regular or better.

Yeah, it's nice to get DiTRs, but I don't really want the guy who's already 24 years old getting it, and all it means is that he can now throw 300 innings at AA.

It has been working for me for the most part.
I have been in the habit of only signing DITR eligible-esque prospects in International FA and from draft.
This takes more than 1 season - it is ongoing.

When it comes time to deactivate, I find that I only need to weed out the less desirables of the eligible.
i.e. 24 year+, low makeup, too low OVR.
I still have plenty left that are eligible.
