Recruiting as D3 vs D2 Sim Topic

I’m at D3 Chapman, have been been on a D2 recruit from the start and unlocked/offered a schollie. He was moderate for me, but a D2 sim just offered and moved to very high, with me moving down to low. Is it possible with a late preference signer to still beat out the sim, or do I cut and run?

Something to note: Sims will continue to put in effort and pursue a recruit unless they are pushed down to "very low". Whether or not you pursue him depends. Can you afford to spend money? How are your preferences?

I looked at your team real quick. You have two openings, but you certainly could cut some of those subpar players before RS2, getting recruiting $ as a result. I'd say it depends on preferences then. If you are net neutral or positive, I'd say you could go for it. If you manage to push the Sim down to very low it will give up

I agree with Wales, your Sim did you no favors with your current Fr squad (and his Very Low point is very well taken). You're rebuilding, cutting some current players you did not recruit would really help. Win-loss just doesn't matter this season IMO. Plenty of solid fallbacks to attack likely available in RS2. Depending on how many players you decide to cut, a couple JUCOs may be really helpful. Scott is a nightmare, a scholarship player with 2 ATH, no way! Domkowski is a cut, his ATH, DEF, PER & PA (without seeing colors) are all bad. Irwin may be another potential cut, VLow ATH & DEF, Low PA unless Blue/Green, and horrible WE. My general rule is to get guys 40+ at WE, 50+ if at all possible. It's a reasonable consideration to cut enough players to get 5 players you *want* in this draft class. But I'd also suggest not signing players you don't want, as a rebuilding team - better to have walkons (aka open scholarships) for the following season than be committed to a useless player for 4 years.
