Diamond Career Question Topic

Hey all,

It's been some time since I've played SLB, and I recently joined two leagues to give it a shot... I've been curious about the Diamond Career themes, and I had a few questions.

When this originally released, I was under the impression that you just kinda got lucky (or not) and were assigned a particular season of a player when the league started. Is this actually true? Is there a different way Diamond Career ratings/stats are determined? Is it truly an average?

Sorry if I'm seeming like a total shmuck by guessing, or if there's a well known thread that I'm missing, but I figured it would be easier to start a discussion here.

No, it is the career stats of the player using their 162-game averages. So the stats you see by the player are those of their entire career games played divided by 162 games, then their career stats divided by that number obtained by the first calculation.

Example: Henry Aaron - 3298 games played divided by 162 = 20.36

755 home runs career divided by 20.36 = 37.08

So Aaron's 162 game average is 37 home runs.

The 162 game average for batting average, OBP, SLG will usually be within a very few points of the overall career average. The absolute total numbers will result from the division explained above. So, basically, the Diamond Career league - and I think they are most underutilized resource on this site, are that player's average 162 game season as played out over their whole career.
