Most Recruits in One Class Topic

I know you can only sign 6 freshmen in one class, but I've had more than 6 openings a couple times - which obviously requires signing juco(s)/transfer(s) or taking walk-on(s).

But I just took over a dumpster fire at my alma mater in Allen - the D3 University of the Ozarks.

I've only got 2 underclassmen worth keeping, which has me pondering the possibility of rescinding all of the underclassmen besides those two and trying to fill 10 spots! :)

I think I will do so by degrees - I have 5 openings, so I plan to fill those 5 plus cut the worst underclassman first as I target at least 6 HS players and a juco or 2; then as I sign players rescind an additional scholly at a time to avoid multiple walk-ons (although that wouldn't be much worse than my current roster).

This train of thought had me wondering what is the most recruits you've either signed yourself or seen someone else sign.

This team has the double whammy of being one of the worst teams I've taken over and being in one of the most competitive conferences I've been in. We've got as many teams ranked in the top 10 as we've got sim-coached teams in the conf. (3), the #1 RPI school (ranked #4), and 7 teams in the top 72 by RPI, so there's conference pressure to flip the roster quickly if I want to compete.

My first class at Kansas in Phelan was season 132. I inherited a garbage team of just a couple scholarship players, due to the team being sim run for 2 seasons. There was one guy I kept from the previous roster, who had been signed by the last human before me. I cut the rest. I signed 8 guys, mostly transfers and jucos (many from the D2 pool). There was one freshman from the D2 pool that I redshirted, so ran with 8 players that year, and somehow won 3 games.

With those jucos and transfers, I kept the team from totally bottoming out the following year, winning 15 (when I could manage the schedule), and maintained an acceptable prestige allowing me to get some decent full classes. The big thing was planning for a nice full class of 6 for season 134, and being able to follow through with a good pull that year. That class was able to really overachieve as sophs, and we made the final four in season #4, a couple years ahead of schedule.

This gave me the idea for a pure coaching D3 challenge:
Step 1:
Take over a team and cut every player
Step 2:
Recruit no one and let the engine fill all 12 spots (S or W)
Step 3:
Best result with that roster after 4 seasons wins. (If you get dealt some Jucos early, when they graduate also do not recruit for those spots. You may however offer or not offer scholarships to any walk-ons).

Additional option:
Presumably, your new roster will be filled somewhat randomly from all over the country, so for the next 8 seasons:
1. Only recruit players from the states of your initial roster's hometowns
OR
2. Only recruit players from X (maybe 10 or 20) miles from the hometowns of the players on that initial roster.

Shoe that's impressive that you were able to take over a bad situation like that and make the F4 in season #4!

Cub, that's awesome that you signed 12 players in one class!!!

bpielcmc that sounds like more of a slog than I'm ready to sign up for, lol - this Ozarks team in Allen is plenty of a challenge for me. Currently 4-16 and 0-10 in the conference. Lost a conf. game by 1!
