blocks in this game aren't terribly high, but blocks in zone can easily get up closer to 2/game where as press its hard to get much above 1/game. press in this game doesn't utilizing block rating much nor does it allow for many blocks, i guess because in theory everyone is busy trapping or something (?).
note that block rating has more impact than just blocked shots, the threat of the blocked shot can impact the shot lowering the % chance of make without showing up in statistics, that sort of thing. this is not a very large impact in the press in HD either, however.
also height doesn't matter - height is used in recruit generation to generate blk and reb ratings, things like that - similar with weight and ath/def - but there is no in-game aspect from height (it is already baked into the ratings, in HD-admin parlance).
ath is going to impact those blocks as well. speed not so much.
FCP can definitely block shots with the right big men. My Bakersfield team last season in Rupp averaged 5.7 blks/game while running FB/FCP. Almost positive we led all of D2 in that category. Won the title.
FWIW, there were also two teams in the just completed D2 Tark season that averaged over 5 blks/game running a FCP, including one team at 5.8.
My guess is that so many people running FCP scrimp on big men that they don't realize just how many blocks a press can actually average. It's not an insignificant number by any means. The team that won the title in D2 Tark was at 3.9 himself running a press.
