I find it really funny that in this fictional conspiracy world Xi thought so far ahead that he was sure Trump would mishandle the virus in every way and drop his approval so much so that Biden could win.

Like, the conspiracy relies on Trump being totally incompetent and everyone knowing it, lmao

1. The virus would have been released in December, before Biden had secured the nomination and before the general race had even heated up at all.
2. Most world leaders had their approval improve due to handling COVID, the conspiracy relies on Trump being totally incompetant.
3. Why would China bungle the virus response so badly if they knew it was coming? Wouldn't this be an opportunity for a PR win?
4. Why start it in China if it was intentionally released? Why not a bioterror attack?
5. What if the vaccine got found and the US went back on the upswing? Once again, backfires.
6. It's a huge risk for Xi. If the conspiracy ever got found out he's ****** internationally. Huge risk, little reward.
7. If the conspiracy is found out, Biden would be tougher on Xi.
8. I don't think the Trump admin was all that bad for China, they were just unpredictable. China was still on the path to outpace the US and Trump, as previously established, is totally incompetant (we lost the trade war, remember).
9. There's literally zero evidence not only for intentional release but also for intentional release meant to sway the election.
