I am in a theme where I am allowed one clone. Playing in Fenway, and my clone choices boil down to:
1916 Ruth and 1942 Williams. If I take Ruth, I end up with '50 Dom Dimaggio in OF. If I take Williams, I get '57 Frank Sullivan as my 3rd SP. As I see it, Williams is the better value, but I'd rather have Dimaggio than Sullivan. I'm just not sure how to calculate the difference in how a pitcher improves a team vs. a hitter.

You could try to estimate how many runs more you get with the better hitter vs what you allow with the pitcher. I don’t have a formula but normalized stats should give you some guidance.

I had a similar decision. Although my decision was to use '16 Ruth (P) or '19 Ruth (OF). I for sure was cloning Ted Williams. So it came down to how much of an upgrade '16 Ruth would give me in pitching vs the upgrade '19 Ruth gave me for hitting. You'll have to wait and see what my choice was.

Well, you have the 1912 and 1914 pitching cabinet to raid, which I don't, so you clearly cannot choose the cup with 1916 Ruth. But then again, you also have access to a stud Tris Speaker season, which I don't, so you clearly cannot choose the cup with 1919 Ruth. Williams seemed an easy choice for me, but I am in a division that does not have access to 1916 Ruth. I can gain a pitching advantage by taking Ruth, but if it comes at the price of a hitting disadvantage, it's not really an advantage. I'm totally overthinking this. I'm just glad I'm not in your division, schwarze.

Just avoid those land wars in Asia and you’ll be fine.

I went with '19 Ruth. I couldn't resist stacking the top of my lineup with...

'12 Speaker (.383, .464, .567)
'42 Williams (.356, .499, .648)
'38 Foxx (.349, .462, .704)
'19 Ruth (.322, .456, .657)
'41 Williams (.406, .551, .735)

Will use '18 Carl Mays (1.06 whip, .215 oav, 378 ip) to pick up the slack for '16 Ruth.
