Defensive Replacements ? Topic

If you draft players to be defensive replacements for poor fielding starters, what inning and how many runs do you use in the settings?


I realize that some draft only good fielders as starters, I’m asking about those that don’t..

I usually only do this in progressives, but if I am going to use defensive replacements I'm bringing them in early. 7th inning, 1 or 2 run lead.

Maybe if the guy being replaced was a monster hitter I'd wait until later

i bring em in in the 9th up by 1

usually they're pretty bad with the bat and i do not crave a plate appearance

I use this a lot with my 1919 Gavvy Cravath. It's not only he's a bad fielder, but also helps control his PA. I set him 1 in the seventh, and come in with a lead at 5 in the 5th. (I do my own subbing.)

I do up 3 in the 8th. I don’t want to expose them to many late inning AB’s but figure 3 and 8 serves its purpose by preserving leads while minimizing AB’s.
