Does anyone have anyone that rivals this guy?

I love that his owner moved to SFE in season 20 and named the franchise after him, presumably just to see what kind of numbers he would put up in that park.

Nine straight seasons hitting over .400??? 15 straight with 40 or more homers??? Wow!

Just 11 homers shy of a 1,000. Shame he couldn't hang in there just a wee bit longer.

A better question is what was the trade that led to him being acquired in the first place. I can't imagine anyone would offer what it would take for me to agree to trade this guy.

It was season 12 in DiMaggio World. The owner that traded him did get two great pieces and a third decent player, but I agree -- the owner that got Egan in the trade, won the trade. The owner that traded him wasn't some slum owner either -- he had a .548 career record. A player like Egan is untradable though. Any guy that is good enough to make an owner change stadiums and name the team after the player should never be traded.

12 rings in 25 seasons. No slight to the owner himself, but think about having a foundation piece that can set up an owner's entire career.

Couldn't steal bases. I'd trade him for a pile of baseballs in a heartbeat.
