Playing a SS at 3B Topic

I have a league where my best option at 3B is to use one my two SS there. One is B/B- and the other is C+/B- at SS, but neither has a fielding grade at third.

So, which would you play at 3B, and what would you expect in terms of fielding performance? I'm assuming I'd play the better fielder at SS because he'll see so many more plays.

the sim maps his C+ fielding percentage at SS (whatever that is) to a C+ fielding percentage at 3B, and then takes off 5%. Same logic for range factor, except a 10% hit. I can't really do the math for you since I don't know the era in question.

agree with your logic on putting the better SS at SS

Thanks for the info. I feel like it's going to be a better move than using a 3B with 200 fewer OPS points just for a solid glove. I'll use him as a defensive replacement and hope it works out to the better.

Isn't there supposed to be an additional factor for moving toward an easier position on the defensive specturm?

no, the additional factor comes in when you move to a harder position

I missed earlier you asked about era. Player at 3b is 1938 Joe Cronin
