Ok, I have been playing around with this lately and have some ideas. But wanted to see what others thought. hopefully get some dialog around why people set there's the way they do. I will post mine later as I don't want people just telling me why I am wrong. Interested in getting ideas and than dissecting why changes might be made ie off/prestige whatever.

i don't use these so i can't comment specifically. before player roles i had tried to settle on linear formulas for player rankings, and was unsatisfied, so haven't touched player roles but have went through the same thing. i think its roughly impossible to build a highly accurate linear formula to evaluate a player. but you can get a useful benchmark, help separate the wheat from the chaff.

so i think the right goal for player roles is just to get a good ballpark figure, and to still be doing the important evaluations with the eye test. and in light of that, its not really the kind of thing where there's a right answer, although i suppose there are probably plenty of wrong ones?

I have been using them since I came back. I have been tweaking them nonstop and have honestly probably came unto and moved on from the best ones. Using them as a baseline has helped. I reverted back to the total # today and was totally shocked at some of the totals I saw.

I don’t use them often but sometimes I play around with them.

I use “roles” as opposed to position, things like: post scorer, post defender, facilitator (pg), perimeter shooter, and wing defender.

my facilitator formula is something like 40/30/20/10 speed/pass/bh/ath

I agree with Trentonjoe, I actually took CubCub's ratings from his spreadsheet, and recreated those ratings in the player roles tab. I don't use it to cookie cutter my depth chart but I will use it if I have 2 freshman guards and am unsure who I want to backup PG/SG. Or if I have a pinch decision on who to start, might use the role chart to see who stacks up as the better defender/offensive weapon and decide from there. PG/SG/SF have 3 breakdowns and PF/C have 2, Each one for defensive efficiency, and then the guards have LP/PER breakdowns and the front court has LP breakdown with defense.

Thats about it, I'll use it at the start of the season to confirm what i'm thinking and won't touch it until next season.
