Question about white lists for theme leagues Topic

When you list players you want in your theme league in a white list, does that exclude all other players from being drafted onto teams in that league? That is what I want, as I have an idea for an interesting theme league, but it would be mad amounts of work to keep track of unless I can use a white list to allow only the players permitted in and exclude all others.

So if someone knows. I probably knew this, but it's been a very long time since I used one. Thanks in advance.

Thanks bheid408. I want to create a theme league with only MLBers that played at one time in the Pacific Coast League and in the Negro Leagues. I am thinking of starting by requiring players to play only in the MLB rookie season, allowing us to advance one career season at a time, but with owners free to use whomever they want among that white-listed population. So a sort of non-progressive league with some of the features of a prog, but less work involved for everyone, especially, sorry, the commish, since I can't really run a progressive anytime in the near future. But a recurring theme league yes.

I am at work on the player pool. One problem is that I can't find a complete list of all MLB players that played in the PCL. Only HOFers, or the PCL award winners and all-stars, that kind of thing. If nothing else we could use that, but I would like to include less known players in the league too. Still working on it, ploughing through several books on the PCL's history and as many sites as I can find. If anyone knows where I might find a more comprehensive list, that would be great.

i have a complete list, years 1903-2006, of every player who ever played for the Portland Beavers

it numbers north of 2300 player-names

but only like 35 ever had enough PAs/IPs to make the WIfS database

so it's gonna be a big search with few results

the list i have was derived from a now-dead website, portlandbeavers.com
there is also a live website (search for "all-time portland beavers project") where the guy is still blogging today
my list includes years dudes played, his doesn't

Sounds like a great theme. I’d definitely be interested in playing.

So maybe searching by historic PCL team websites, I can get the biggest list I can. Yes, I figure that 35 is representative, but that should get us upwards of 300 plus players that were in the MLB. Plus the Negro League players. Enough to make things interesting. Anyway, I am at work on it, it will take a while, so those of you interested, hang in there and stay tuned for more but it might be a couple-few weeks.

Thanks bagchucker. And Killebrew for expressing your interest.
