WAS seems to have gotten a lot in return for a 23 year old that wanted to leave the house. It should speed up a rebuild...

One other note: Eric Hosmer was originally in the deal, but refused to waive his no-trade clause to go to the Nats. He's been dealt to Boston, apparently with the Padres on the hook for much of the money owed to him through 2025.

This adds up to a hefty price tag for getting Soto and Bell...

The Pads will be conducting a firesale within 2 years. Just like the Marlins did in late 90s. Machado, Tatis and presumably Soto will not all be making $30m/yr on the same team for 7+ years...not happening.

They gave up a lot, was hoping Cards would be in on him but when I heard all the players they would want, glad we didnt sink the ship. Still hate MO, and think he needs to be fired but this was not the deal for the Cards to make in my opinion.

Biggest trade ever?

That's an ESPN headline...I don't think so, it will not likely affect both franchises more than another trade...

Jan 5, 1920, NY Yankees send $125,000 in cash to Boston in exchange for George Herman Ruth.
