Generally, PR is pretty close to RPI (much better indicator than AP pool by the end of the season). Guessing its below RPI too since you're asking and I feel like there is a decent penalty for having alot of games outside of the top 100 and few against the top 25 so I will guess 21

It definitely seems like there's some quality wins in there. My gut says somewhere around #12 on the PR, but that probably doesn't make an interesting forum post. So I'll go with #34.

This team won the CT and was a 5 seed despite the undefeated record and quality wins.

Full list of opposing team RPI wins (no losses): 8, 8, 36, 36, 47, 53, 65, 65, 91, 95

RPI was 17 heading into CT. That’s in line for a 5 seed based on that. So nothing too shocking here. Sounds like RPI matched up pretty closely with PR.

Yeah, that team should probably be a 3-seed at worst.

I agree with what you’re saying, but clearly PR relies heavily on RPI. At least that’s what I notice. You noted the RPI in your original post. You didn’t ask where would I rank that team. For the record, I don’t know- I haven’t followed the team. But yes, I would probably have said as an undefeated team they deserve a 1 seed. You did ask where they would be in the PR, which normally is pretty close to the RPI, it seems to me from my very limited experience. So…..I would have said 4-5 seed range. And that’s where they wound up.

Why don’t we get Pomeroy to do some ratings for this?

RPI is not at all a good metric for evaluating how good a team's resume is. We've dropped it in real life for a reason. The PR exists because RPI is so bad we can't use it and have the game be a serious product. Mapping the PR onto RPI is not good.

In real life, this team's resume is similar to Gonzaga and we give them a 1 seed.

In 2018, Gonzaga had #36 RPI and was given a 5 seed.

Last year, Baylor has #12 RPI and we gave them a 1 seed.
I think my comment regarding RPI was poorly written/misinterpreted. By seasons end in this game, RPI and PR are generally very close probably because either the formulas are very similar or PR is heavily derived from RPI. So if Im guessing PR, I typically just base it of RPI. My post wasn't meant to comment on how good or bad of an indicator RPI for evaluating team's resumes.
