When did this forum become the MLB forum? Topic

The MLB forum has been relatively dead this year, while people seem to be posting all their RL MLB discussions here. Why the shift?

Not even a post about potential 2022 cookies?!

Both forums are pretty slow right now. Might as well merge them, like the NHL did back in the 1970s with the sad sack Minnesota North Stars and even sadder sack Cleveland Barons.

Yeah, Cleveland had an NHL team once!

That merged team got good in 2 years, making it to the Cup semis, and then a year later to the Cup Finals. It was a fun team to watch. They picked up Christoff and Broten from the Gold medal team after the Olympics were over. The cup finals year they went into Boston and the game set a record for penalty minutes. I have a friend who was at that game when he was 10 and he says it was unreal. The North Stars lost that game but won the war, winning at the Garden for the first time in their history during the playoffs.

When hockey was hockey!

Can you name the little guy with the big stash skating in front of Guy Lafleur? Pretty sure he's the least-known 60-goal scorer in NHL history.

What about the goalie, who went on to play in the Stanley Cup final you mentioned?

Steve Shutt is the 60 goal scorer

Not sure who the Habs goalie was post-Dryden
Nah that's not Shutt he never played for Cleveland Not sure who it is though! As for the goalie I'd guess Giles Meloche but just a guess

Dennis Maruk, netted 60 81-82 Capitals

Jersey number 21, wearing number 12 Gloves in that photo...its not a reverse image, Lafleur wore #10

Dryden retired in '79, Habs wouldn't win another Cup until 85-86, with a kid named Patrick Roy in net...

Hockey-reference has full rosters and stats. You have to search individual players to see jersey numbers.

Stars didn't win a Cup until '99, Hull scored the overtime winner... Hitchcock was the coach.

Give blood, play hockey...

It should be on every Red Cross vehicle...

Maruk and Meloche are correct!

Steve Shutt did score 60 goals, but he's in the HOF so I'm sticking with my call of Maruk being the least-known 60 goal scorer.
