Getting tanked to get fatigued b4 playoffs Topic

I'm in a League which is approaching the playoffs and began a 3 game regular season series this morning with the upcoming playoff opponent. My team won 44-1 when their 55% mop-up pitcher came in and threw 200+ pitches even though the rest of the pitching staff was not fatigued. It's a waiver wire league so this pitcher could have been replaced by a legit arm. My players were all 100% before the game but now some took a hit on fatigue which likely wouldn't have happened in a competitive game.

Is what my opponent (who is an experienced player) doing legit? It makes a mockery of the team rankings, leaderboard, and awards of the league when I'm getting all these gimme HRs.

doesn't look like anything untoward here. the league has injuries turned off so you can leave a cheap mop-up in to get slaughtered when the game gets out of hand. your opponent seems to have started the game with a real lineup, but then when down 8-1 in the 7th the mop-up came on and took a beating to rest everyone else.

also fatigue for position players gets capped for single games, the most PAs a hitter can be credited with in a game for fatigue purposes is six, to prevent someone doing this on purpose. but I don't think this owner did anything sketchy or deliberate in this case.

Thanks 06gsp. Why wouldn't that pitcher get relieved when getting blown out like that? The rest of the staff is healthy.

if you set the mop ups max pitch count to none he won't be pulled

Thank you. My apologies to the other owner.

All's fair. I will send my staff to the beach to rest in a meaningless game to prep for the playoffs.

Was the game a blowout already? mopups throwing 200+ pitches makes a mockery of the game and its statistics no matter what the circumstance. But it's legal and may offer a slight advantage (less than many people think) so owners will continue to do it. If he was resting for the playoffs then it's standard procedure. If it was a close game and he did it just to fatigue your hitters that's unsportsmanlike but it's not illegal, he's not somebody I would want to have a beer with. The damage to your fatigue is minor, less than one half of one percent for a fulltime hitter.

I doubt it was intentional. I think I was being an idiot. I've got a lot of experience doing that.
