We start off in 1980, there are 26 teams in the MLB at the time, Our league will have 20 teams, 4 Divisional winners make the Playoffs (There is no option for wildcards with 20 teams, sorry)

How you will get your initial rosters:
We will start by having a 3 round, snake style draft. In this draft you will draft your choice of Either:
A-Pitching Staff (Starters and Relievers)
B-Outfielders ( Starters and Back ups whos PRIMARY position is OF )
C-Infielders ( All C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS )
from the 1980 season.

You could end up with St. Louis Cardinals Pitchers, Atlanta Braves IF’ers and Oakland A’s OF’ers, this should make for some unique rosters and good strategy!

All players will only go to 1 roster, this will be determined by the team they start the 1980 season with via Baseball-Reference.com-No Clones

I WILL GET 2 OWNERS TO RANDOM LISTS FOR ME TO MATCH UP FOR DRAFT SPOT.

For Example, you can select the KC Royals infielders, and you will own all Royals IF'ers that STARTED the season in 1980 with KC,

By the end of the 3 round draft, you will own 1 set of infielders, 1 set of Outfielders, and 1 set of Pitchers.

This makes up the beginnings of your year 1 roster.

Following the initial 3 round draft, will have another 3 Round Snake Draft, In Opposite order of the initial draft, where you may select individual players from teams/positions not selected in the 1st Draft.

For example-If the Oakland A's Of'ers didn't get selected, you could draft any single player from their 1980 OF to help your Roster. Their will be 6 un selected IF's, OF's And Pitching Staffs to select from.

After all if this is completed, you will be allowed to select 1 player from 1 of your 3 initial drafted Positions 1970 roster to help your team, he will be the only player on your team that will NOT be from the 1980 roster, he will start from any season of his career you choose, and progress 1 season at a time just like everyone else. You could however, if you own said player in 1980, but want to use the same player from your 1970 season instead, you can use that season as your Hired gun, losing the 1980 version, this counts as your 1 hired gun. You can only get a hired gun from the same postion/team you own, for example, if you have NYY pitchers, you can only bring a pitcher from NYY, if you have Expos IF'ers you can only bring an IF from the Expos etc. You CAN NOT bring a pitcher from your IF or OF teams.

*Note-Toronto and Seattle will have NO option for a hired gun if you take them, so you will have to use 1 of your other 2 teams/positions.
*Note-Texas pulls from Washington Senators 1970 roster.

Hired Guns do count as keepers and need to be put on keeper list with the year they will be entering, for example:
OF-‘72 George Foster.

There will be no clones, because all players go to the teams the begin the 1980 season with, and none will be allowed to be made from the 1970 season, if a player is already in the league in 1980, he can NOT be brought up for 1970 to make a clone, Example Nolan Ryan.

Extra players you have left over will become your AAA, because there will never be Fake AAA players allowed to be used.

Each season after this, you will be awarded ALL ROOKIES that START THE SEASON with your team at the position that you own, so if you own NYY pitcher, BALT IF, and ATL OF-You will get all rookies that start the season with those Teams/Positions.

Be careful, there will be some oddities here, If you draft the Yankees IF’ers and expect to get Don Mattingly as a rookie, you will be disappointed to find out he comes up as an OF’er, and they will get him! Do your research!

After each season you will cut your rosters down to 25 at most, less if you want to participate in the draft.
The draft will consist of all previously un used players from the season before, all cut players, and all rookies from the unselected teams/positions.

A 4 round AAA draft will follow the regular draft so you can supplement ABS/IPS since there is no FAKE AAA guys ever used.

Draft order will be reverse order of wins at game 150. Must win at least 40 games by seasons end to get 1st spot, or you drop to 3rd. If 2nd worst team doesnt reach 40 wins, he would drop to 4th, and so forth. Ties go to head to head record, followed by runs scored head to head, followed by HR’s head to head. If it still remains tied, it will go to team ERA.

Before the 1990 season, and every 10 seasons thereafter, we will get a new “Hired Gun” from a different season.
1990=2010
2000=2020
2010=1975
2020=1985

THIS SHOULD BE A VERY FUN, AND STRATEGIC DRAFT/BUILD!!!! THIS SHOULD FILL FAST SO GET YOUR BUTT IN NOW!!!

GET IN ON THE GROUND FLOOR OF A NEW PROGRESSIVE INSTEAD OF TAKING OVER SOMEONES LEFTOVERS!

I DO ASK THAT YOU BE WILLING TO STICK AROUND A PLAY FOR SEVERAL SEASONS, AS ID LOVE TO GET A GREAT GROUP OF OWNERS AND BUILD SOME RIVALRYS!!!

DH WILL be used in both leagues AND will be placed in either IF or OF depending on prior positon/games played.

Choose one of your 3 Teams Cities as your home/stadium (1 per League)(So there can be 2 NY teams, we will just put them in opposite leagues)

ALL PLAYERS, DRAFT PICKS, AND FUTURE RIGHTS OF UPCOMING ROOKIES CAN BE TRADED, UP TO 1 SEASON AHEAD.

I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CLOSE ANY LOOP HOLES THAT MAY ARISE, OR FIX ANY UN WRITTEN RULE FOR THE GOOD OF THE LEAGUE.

Divisions will be random, Team names will use 1 of your 3 Cities ( 1 per League ) and Team Name/Mascot will NOT be a real team name, past or present.

NL West-Astros, Dodgers, Reds, Braves, Giants, Padres
AL East-Yankees, Orioles, Brewers, Tigers, Red Sox, Indians, Blue Jays

I'll admit, I was very surprised to get the #1 pick. While enjoyable now, pickings at the end of round 3 don't promise to be too good. Anyway, hard to pass up:
