Big Board definition of SF v PF Topic

My impression is that Big Board and EE status depend on the positrion of a player - and that one can see odd jumps in Big Board ranking if one "moves" from one position to another for eval purposes

Anyone studied what ratings are key to whether a player is judged as a PF or a SF?

haven't really studied it, but anecdotally, they are two of the hardest to separate. they both weigh all ratings in a substantial way. probably speed, bh, pass push towards a sf, reb and blk towards a big. not sure if there are 2 big forumlas, there's at least 4 overall, which i think of pg/sg/sf/big, but i am not sure if there's pf and c. pf ranking on the board seems to value all ratings highly, including spd/per/bh/pass, so if you are one of those well rounded players with lots of stuff, it tends to be better to hold reb/blk if you can and squeak in as a sf. perhaps counter intuitive, but its like the game expects sfs to be more well rounded, so it tends to be a much bigger problem to have guys with 120+ combined bh/pass coming in as bigs. opposite of how it normally works, normally its great to be getting sg credit for pretty good reb/lp, you pay so little over there for those. bigs with bh/pass is much different.

Yeah, it feels like a murky distinction. I am thinking about whether one can have a PF with good BH/Pass and distort his practice progress for a season to push him into the SF category and perhaps move him from a high on the Bog Board PF to a less high on the Big Board "SF"......

yeah for sure, it seems like pfs who are really high on account of their bh/pass are the prime candidates to move to sf, as backwards as that may seen

you have to have a lower reb pf to make it possible though

I've seen weird stuff on the Draft Board when you change the players listed position.

I had a really good Soph-PG. I think he ended up around 18 on the Big Board after the season. Listed as On the Fence.
He came back for his junior season. He was the second highest rated PG to return. But then I changed his listed position to PF.
By the end of the season he was 42 on the Big Board. Once again On the Fence.
He leaves after that season and is drafted 6th overall. Which is probably where he should have gone.

At least in his case, the Big Board seemingly took into account his listed position. But the Draft viewed him as a top PG.
This is contrary to what I've read as the general consensus regarding a Big Board with shifting formulas. So that opinion is not absolute.

pretty interesting oldwarrior. did he start the season around that 42 also, like was his big drop from end of season 1 to start of season 2, corresponding to the position change, or did he start pretty high and drop like 40 spots at some point?
