Baserunning setting vs. 3rdB Coach rating Topic

Searched multiple ways in the forum and can't find an answer to this: So I have noticed last season that on multiple occasions a runner didn't try to score from second base with two outs on a hit to the outfield. Way too many times, and way more than you would see for a team in a real season. What is the order of factors determining this? 1) Individual baserunning, 2) team baserunning setting 3) 3rd base coach baserunning rating. ??

What can be done to fix this? I don't really want to make my baserunning more aggressive than average. How much does the 3rd base coach baserunning determine whether the guy on 2nd tries to score from second on a hit to the outfield with two outs? All the good baserunning guys score in this situation, so I think individual baserunning is clearly the main factor.
Does the 3rd base coach baserunning determine whether the average baserunning or slow guy tries to score from second, or does that coach rating just determine players baserunning improvement?

The baserunning coaches do not affect game play. Their ratings only affect how fast the players' baserunning ratings will develop. So you can count that out. Between individual baserunning rating vs team baserunning setting, I'm not exactly sure which one affects this more.

Thanks bj, that was my guess and understanding too, but wanted to see what others thought. I am not really sure what the value of the big league coaches really are if you mostly have players that have reached their heights already. All my big league players age 23-27 might see a point in baserunning over those years, for example. Do high coach ratings help maintain higher ratings? probably not.

I tend to bring top prospects up to the Majors before most other coaches do, so I do value my big league coach ratings. The only exception to that is the ML bench coach. I'm not ever going to pay him more than the 600K minimum, because I instruct my manager to not ever argue with the umps. btw, I'm sure you already know this, but the Fielding Instructor is the most important coach in your organization, because he covers all levels (info for newbie managers reading this thread.)

Yeah, I do that too with the bench coach. It's strange that the fielding coach works that way all season, but not the other coaches. Of course, all this speaks to the value of playing the young guys in spring training.
