The O.G.L. is a 12-team progressive league that started in 1967 and is now moving into its 29th & 30th seasons!
How do we only have 12 teams? We play two seasons at once. We are about to enter the 95-96 & 96-97 seasons. All the 95-96 teams are in the Eastern Conference, and all the 96-97 teams are in the Western Conference.
All of our teams have the names & cities of the Original 12 NBA franchises. The franchise available right now is the Los Angeles Lakers. buffalo_rob owned the team from its inception in 67-68 through the most recent season, but he is stepping away. Here is the roster, entering into 95-96/96-97:
A.C. Green
Buck Williams
Joe Dumars
John Stockton
Karl Malone
Kevin Gamble
Kevin Willis
Nick Anderson
Rodney Rogers
Sam Perkins
Stacey Augmon
Vernon Maxwell
Vin Baker
Walt Williams
These are the Lakers players "under contract." You build a 95-96 & a 96-97 roster with those players. Every player rostered on at least one of the two teams stays "under contract" for the 97-98/98-99 seasons.
We are about to have our 1995 draft. LA has all of its draft picks. Because there are only 12 teams and because the draft is for players debuting in 95-96 and 96-97, LA's #9 pick will be good enough to get someone who would have gone 5th or better in a single-season draft.
This is a very active league with a lot of trading. If you took over the team & wanted to rebuild, you could trade away Stockton & Malone for future picks. Or if you wanted to trade your own future picks (you can trade up to two drafts in advance, so your 97-98/98-99 draft picks and your 99-00/00-01 draft picks could be traded) you could try to build a "win-now" team around your current roster.
Finally, I will give the new owner two $9.95 gift certificates for taking over the franchise. The first will be paid upon entering both of your teams in the 95-96/96-97 seasons, and the second one will be paid upon entering your 97-98/98-99 teams the next year.
