The REDRAFT league - season ONE Topic

You are approached by a genie, he offers you the gift of being able to see the future in drafts for the mere cost of $1,000,000.

”Wow! That would be incredible!…but I don’t have one million dollars…”

”Sure you do. You have 47 million dollars.”

”Wait, so I’ll get to see the future of who will be available at my draft spots and still have $46,000,000? What do I need to do?”

”It’s simple. Just comment in this thread and say ‘in’, and it will be so”

————
Have you ever looked back and an old NBA or NFL draft and pretended you could redraft and get all the steals?
Or looked back at a WIS draft and thought “if I knew so-and-so would fall to the 4th round, I would’ve drafted a lot differently?”
Well pretend no more, it’s here.

We’ll take the results of the most recent ODL (90), which is a $47m draft league. Once all 24 spots are claimed, I will publicly run a lottery (defuse method) of 1-24, and your number will represent the draft spot that you will have in the redraft. You will use your 7 picks to pick any players that were available at each of those draft spots. Then fill out your roster with any 5 undrafted players. You will have the benefit of hindsight, at a cost of $1m. This will be a $46m league.

The “draft” will be offline; just build your team once you know your “draft spot.” You will have a week from the time draft spots are assigned to submit your team.
Trades will not be reflected. You will get each draft spot’s original picks, not the ones they traded into in the real ODL. No trades here either, just build your team with the players available to you at your spots.
Duplicate players will be a thing. For example: MJ went 10th in the real ODL draft, so all teams 1-10 could use their first round pick on him if they want to. No clones on your own team though. No rookies. No waiver wire.

Can you confirm the 2nd round and later? So chewy was 9th and could change his mind as you said and take Jordan. What's the best player he could take in the 2nd? Is it Kyrie, KAT, McHale, etc? Any player drafted after your spot in each round?

So the idea is basically a do over draft with the benefit of building your roster offline based on who was there each round knowing ahead of time? Sorry, maybe haven't had enough coffee yet.

Let’s say you get the 5th spot.

First round: IRL, it was Giannis. You could go with Giannis or any player picked after him.
Second round: IRL, it was Jimmy Butler. You could go with Butler or any player picked after him (or undrafted)
Third round: IRL it was Magic. You could go with Magic or with any player picked after him (or undrafted)
etc

For your chewy example, yes if you get the 9th pick in this draft, you could select from KAT/Kyrie/McHale/etc with your 2nd round pick. Or even Dave Bing if you really wanted to.

And to your second paragraph: yes. Or you could work backwards and say “wow, so-and-so is a steal in the 3rd. Let me grab him there and use my other picks to build around him” or whatever you think is best

hope you join!

Thanks for confirming. Let me just check the BOWIS schedule, my commitment has been a bit heavy lately but I think we have a break coming
