I used to think this was impossible - that if he kid left because of broken promises or was cut, he never would have any interest in recruiting efforts by that school

In the last couple months, I have seen this happen twice - I like to look at the transfer market even if I am not really looking for someone. Seems surprising

Anyone know if something has changed with this?

It's been doable for quite a long time

The kid leaving was a mistake on his end. Had plenty of starts and minutes I think the system fixed because he should have never left. Plus I didn’t do anything to get him to come back but an offer.

I've seen it two or three times in the last few months. Could be that some of it is error correction? Does it happen in situations where the kid was "supposed" to leave?

If its error correction, I wish customer service would just put the guy back on the roster - confusing to see them in the pool.
