After literally fifteen or twenty years since the last time I played GD, I've grabbed a team. From looking at everything in my office, I think I am going to have a lot of questions, but I will start with two:

1. How do I set the offensive & defensive formations that I want to run? I noticed that for every formation there is a default button when you go look at it, but I can't tell if it is actually establishing the default formations that I want to use.

2. How many practice minutes do most coaches devote to formation practice for their primary formations?

Thanks in advance, I am sure I will be back with dozens more questions but these are the first two.

1. When you create a playbook, you can select the formations you want to run. When you create a game plan, you can select the playbook you want to run.
2. Coaches view this differently. But, at the D3 level, the consensus is that player attribute growth generally trumps formation IQ. So, probably not more than 12-15 minutes per formation (and a lot of D3 coaches run only one offensive and one defensive formation).

Next questions:

1. Can I cut players from the roster? I have a few really bad players courtesy of Coach Sim AI, but I don't see an option for cutting players. Recruiting just started and I would like to get these guys off of my roster as soon as I can.

2. When do recruiting cycles happen?

3. Should I only focus on undecided recruits, or is it simple for a human coach to push AI coaches off of recruits at the D3 level?

4. Can a D3 program sign D2-level recruits?

Thanks!

2. When do recruiting cycles happen? First cycle is 24 hours. On day 2 they go to every 3 hours.

3. Should I only focus on undecided recruits, or is it simple for a human coach to push AI coaches off of recruits at the D3 level? IMO - At DIII look players with good potential to improve. Decideds can make most of your roster, but you could target some close higher rated players.

4. Can a D3 program sign D2-level recruits? Nope. Only the players you can see in your vision.

Two more questions:

1. Do players who are not getting attention gradually drop in the level they are willing to play at? That is, as recruiting continues, will I see some former D2-level recruits showing up when I search for D3 recruits?

2. How many players can I redshirt per season?

Thanks in advance!

1. No, the players you initially see are the players that you will be able to recruit from during the entire recruiting phase.

2. You can redshirt up to 3 players a season. When redshirting, I would heavily consider potential over other attributes.
