MARCH MADNESS / ALUMNI LEAGUE (the All3 memorial) Topic

This was an annual CLASSIC theme.
All3 created and served as commissioner until his early passing.
Eventually the theme seemed to lose its momentum.

So - here it is, with the original rules All3 set forth in 2014:

All3: "For the last several years, we have done an Alumni League that we try to coincide with March Madness. We have used a different theme every year. This year's theme is: After selecting a College, you
  • may add 1 US and 1 non-US born player who never attended a US College (according to the link), using a season where their salaries are under $6,000,000.
  • You may also add any 2 "filler" players, with salaries under $600,000.
  • To try to keep the court level, the 8 Colleges (UCLA, Kentucky, North Carolina, Indiana, Duke, Louisville, Connecticut, and Kansas) that have won 3 or more NCAA Championships may only add the US OR the non-US player, and only 1 of the fillers.
  • Each College may be used twice, with like schools in different Conferences.
  • Alignment as geographical as possible.
  • $44 million cap, no WW, Clones or Rookies.

For what it's worth,

I did take two BOTH of the Kentucky options -
4th generation fan (can remember back to 1972)
(sorry if anyone else may have wanted a shot at one of the two)

If it's any consolation:
KENTUCKY will not accept any help from those who did not play for the Wildcats,
and we will avoid redundancy between the two teams.

I will take Wake Forest

Can you clarify what this bullet actually means?
  • To try to keep the court level, the 8 Colleges (UCLA, Kentucky, North Carolina, Indiana, Duke, Louisville, Connecticut, and Kansas) that have won 3 or more NCAA Championships may only add the US OR the non-US player, and only 1 of the fillers.

can only add ONE of the larger money player options (US / Foreign)
and NOT two like other programs can

and
can only add ONE 'filler' lower money guy instead of TWO like the other programs can.

I am taking Louisville (which is who I always took in all3's leagues in the past)

But ummmmmmmmmm Louisville has only 'technically' won two so can they break the rules? Didn't stop them then so why not now? haha

I wouldn't say it was 'breaking the rules' If Louisville utilized the advantages All3 spelled out.

I assume the league was before Louisville won that Pitino Title, and was probably the reason they were not part of his THREE Threshold.
I didnt notice the omission in what All3 had posted all those years ago.

Plus, It's LOUISVILLE - They have a long checkered history of RULE BREAKING....
so - either way - go with the theme designation help.

PS: What are your thoughts / feelings concerning Louisville getting under seeded (an 8 instead of a 6)
and getting to play so close to home as an underdog?

I wasn't seriously asking to bend to the Louisville rules. I was just referencing the fact that Louisville technically doesn't have 3 championships because they had to vacate the Pitino Championship (2013).

And HONESTLY I am much less a Louisville fan than I used to be. I have grown less attached to them as I get further and further from my school years and have worked for UK longer than I went to school there soooooooooo

As far as them getting under seeded I think yeah it's cool they get to play close to home but they will more than likely have to play Auburn in round 2 and I don't know if any homefield advantage is gonna help them beat them.
