Game development discussion should take place here on the site on not on Discord, which features disjointed threads and is not user-friendly for many HBD users. Relying on Duscord just seems like a way to shut out some valuable voices.

Hey everyone – just wanted to clear up something we’ve heard a few folks express lately:

We’ve seen more and more users hop onto Discord lately to chat about the games in real time. It’s fast, it’s casual, and it lets people drop in and talk strategy, recruiting, world drama, or even just argue about real life sports.

But let’s be clear: anything important—site updates, feature changes, game news—you’ll always find that on the forums. Always.

Discord isn’t a secret backroom or some exclusive invite-only thing. It’s just another way to connect with the community (including us). If you’re curious, we’re happy to help you get set up. If you’re not into it? No worries. You won’t miss anything important.

We love the forums. They’ve been the heart of WIS for 20+ years, and we’re not changing that. We’re just trying to give the community more ways to interact—whether that’s through a deep dive post on the forums, or a quick convo over in Discord.

Discord is a terrible tool unless they've updated it recently. I used it for a long time and just stopped going there because it's just not practical for anything meaningful. There's no discussion that you can have there that you can't have here. The argument isn't that it's some secret backroom; it's just unnecessary and not user friendly. That alienates a chunk of your users while giving you guys the impression that those that muddle through that experience for whatever reason add more value than those that won't/don't.

Pretty much agree with slashtc. Trying not to be a dinosaur by not liking Discord... I know my son uses it... but I find it user unfriendly. Everything's all over the place. It looks like visual autism to me. So, to me, it's just one extra thing for me to ignore.
