Back to the Progressive Theme League Classifieds...hat in hand

The WESPL now has one "1936 team" available - a St. Louis Browns team that plays at Sportsman's Park

the team will be a hybird team made up of 1936 and 2020 players...the 2020 players are carry over from when the league was rebooted in the 2014 season back to 1930....owners were allowed to keep any of their current players before the reboot and use them as long as they have a new WIS season available for the next season in the league

currently the team has these pre-reboot 2020 players - Anthony Rendon 3B, Yasmani Grandal C, Michael Brantley OF, Brandon Kintzler P and Carlos Martinez P as potential keepers for the "1936 team" - all of the other players would be 1936 players since the draft is only for 1936 players

the team also has pitcher Chris Sale who would be I/R for the 2020 season but return in 2021

once a "modern" player is dropped, the player is no longer in the league with eventually the post-reboot league will only have players from the current season

this team is not "dump job," but a team that has been owned by an experienced owner who has decided to cut back on the number of teams the owner runs

check out the roster below...

The WESPL was designed to minimize the benefit of losing games to gain an advantage in the next draft (also referred to as "tanking")...there is no reward in the WESPL for losing...but there is a reward for winning...so over the course of the league - going into it's 90th season!! - there have not been "fights/arguments" over "tanking"

about the WESPL itself......

The league rules reward winning - there is no incentive to tank during the season since losing only worsens a teams potential draft slot

The drafts are often deep because quality players who might be keepers in other progressive leagues are often cut due to the player's impact on team salary

Rules

This is progressive league playing dual eras. Each season we play a season from 2 different years, but we keep those years completely separate by league (except for interleague play). We play each era simultaneously, one in the NL and one in the AL. In effect we are playing two progressive leagues, separated by league boundary.

- drafted players will be owned until they are cut, are traded, or retire

- stadiums will be owned for the life of the league, unless you appeal for a stadium change.

· each team may carry over as many players as it likes to the following season (standard progressive- For instance, the team who had 1923 Babe Ruth in 1923, would have 1924 Babe Ruth in 1924. )

- keeper lists will be due before 141 game of the current season. Late keeper lists will have all possible keepers counted against their DPR (see below), and if not submitted by the start of the draft- all possible keepers retained.

- players who miss a WIS season in mid-career can be retained on the DL until their career resumes. for instance, if you draft P O'doul in 1923, you can retain him until he comes back. (you have to keep him or cut him the season he comes back with a WIS season)

· each season there will be a separate non-snake rookie/free agent drafts to fill out rosters in each league/year. a drafted player will be owned by its drafting team until that player is traded, is cut, or retires.

The draft order formula is:

Total salaryYr1 at Game 81 (Millions to the tenth x2) + salaryYr2 from posted keepers before Game 136 (Millions to the tenth X1) - Wins at Game 140/2= DPS (draft power score)

the lowest possible salary that can be entered into the formula will be 55 million. For instance, if your salary from year 1 (or yr 2) was 39 million, 55 million would be used in the formula. (there is no draft position advantage to holding a firesale to get below 55 million in salary)

Lowest DPS drafts first, highest last

trading draft picks for players or other picks is allowed.

·at no point in any season will a team from one league/year be able to have a player from another year. for instance, a 1923 team will have all 1923 players. there will be no inter-year trading between 1923 and 1946 teams. (trading between teams of the same year will, of course, be legal and encouraged).

·Team names will begin with the current year, followed by the city of your stadium, followed by a nickname of your choice (can be the real name, or a name of your choice.) for instance, if you drafted wrigley field in the 1946 draft, your team name could be: '46 Chicago Cubs, or '46 Chicago River Rats etc. it could not be don's dingers, or tallahassee tigers etc.

·AAA will be set to below-average, so as to provide fatigue relief, but at replacement-player level ability (similar to real life minor leagues).

·The NLCS will be considered the WS of the '97 era, and ALCS will be considered the WS of the '38 era. The LCS winners will be proclaimed "champions" of their respective eras, and the world series will be a time-travel exhibition match for WIS rewards, personal stats, and bragging rights.

·Live play will be legal, although there will never be any sort of requirement to play live. completely up to the owner. SLLive will be allowed for the current series.

·No DH
