95% fatigue for playoffs. Topic

Is the 95% fatigue for playoffs 95% of their numeric values that can go up to 110% or is it 95% of their 110%. That is to say if a pitcher has 162 innings pitched in a season does 95% set him to 153.9 or to 169.3 (95% of the 110% amount including the 10% buffer).

I imagine it has to be the first as the second feels like you’d have way too few resources left for the playoffs but I’ve never played playoffs so wanted to confirm.

It’s based on pitches. All pitchers are assigned an amount of pitches based on their IP, and adjusted based on BB/9, K/9, and ERC. Their fatigue is measured from this pitch total, not their IP. Similarly, this factor is also based on their pitches thrown relative to that pitch total. There’s a thread started by elbirdo that breaks down the exact formula to get the Pitch total for every pitcher.

Is it 95% of the raw pitch count before the 10% buffer or is it 95% of the total pitch count including the buffer?

That is to say do pitchers go into the playoffs with 8.91 games from a 162 game season (0.95 *1.1) or do they go into the playoffs with 24.3 games from a 162 game season (0.95/1.1)

It’s based on the allocated pitch total for that pitcher, which includes the 10% buffer. So if a pitcher is allocated 3000 pitches for the season, that includes the 10% buffer. So 95% of that would be 2,850 pitches. Number of games or innings doesn’t matter, only the pitches.
