This league celebrates the Chinese New Year and its associated tradition of honoring certain animals. This year’s new year begins on February 17th, and 2026 will be the year of the Horse. BTW, finn2030 created this theme, and he gave me his blessing to continue running it when he retired from WIS.

The league’s theme is based on the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac, and their associated years. For this season we will be using the years 1930 through 2025, as follows:

Horse – 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002 & 2014
Goat – 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003 & 2015
Monkey – 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004 & 2016
Rooster – 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005 & 2017
Dog – 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006 & 2018
Pig – 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019
Rat – 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008 & 2020
Ox – 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009 & 2021
Tiger – 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022
Rabbit – 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, & 2011, 2023
Dragon –1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012 & 2024
Snake – 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013 & 2025

We will be using the standard 24 team format, with one team in each league based on each of the 12 animals listed above. Owners can choose their animal and league (i.e. AL or NL) on a first come first served basis by submitting a post below. Owners may enter 2 teams as long as 1 team is in the AL and 1 is in the NL. I will use whichever animal & league are left after 23 owners have signed up. The deadline for getting your rosters entered will be set for 3 days after the final owner joins, so please only sign up if you’re sure you’ll be able to meet that deadline. You will receive a site mail with the league number shortly after you sign up, so that should give everyone plenty of time to build their teams.

Here are the rules:

• Salary Cap - $110M. No AAA, DH, WW, clones, trades, or injuries.
• You can only choose players from your selected league, so be sure to use the search filter in the WIS draft center to limit your search to either AL or NL players. Combined seasons are OK as long as you use a version matching your chosen league.
• You are required to use at least 3 players from each of the 8 years listed for your chosen animal in the above list. Your 25th player can be from any of your 8 years. That will result in a league specific roster with 3 players from 7 of your 8 years, and 4 players from 1 of your 8 years.
• You must use a home field that was in use in your league in at least one of your 8 years.
• Alignment will be based on the league chosen and the order in which owners sign up.
