Around the Horn S27 - Need 5 incl #1 & #2 picks Topic

Around the Horn is entering its 27th season of existence, and we are looking for some quality owners to help keep us going! We have a mix of solid openings available, including playoff teams and three rebuilds with the top 5 picks. We roll over on Thursday

Over half the league has been in the world for at least 7 seasons, so we have had a pretty stable ownership group for awhile. We also don't have a super team right now as the last 6 seasons has seen 5 different champions.

We also have a 3-year 180 win MWR and 50-win minimum per season.

Current Openings:
AL South
Huntington (55-107)
Huntington is in the process of rebuilding, and will have the #2 pick in the upcoming draft. They also have some prospects to build around including #5 pick Peter Singleton who can be a future leadoff hitter at 2B, former #10 pick SP Ivan Castillo, former #9 pick 2B Mac Moran, and a SS prospect with some pop in Joe Brown. With only $39 million in committed contracts for next season, the next owner can try and capitalize on the IFA market to help speed up the rebuild.

AL West
Tokyo (62-100)
Tokyo is a team with a good base of talent that also has some good prospects. Rico Paniagua leads the world's 12th best offense and is supported by Wilking Sierra, young solid hitter Fred Payton, and rookie of the year finalist Parker Prokopec. In the minors, they have some good prospects such as #7 pick SS Karl Hitchcock, future 3B Joe Campbell, and SP prospect Peter Sadler. They have about $35 million in payroll committed to next season, and the #5 pick in the upcoming draft, so there is room to build up their prospect pool.

NL East
Baltimore (95-67)
A playoff team and contender, Baltimore had a solid year that ended in the NLDS. They were a well run team whose owner just needed to step down, so they are in good shape going forward. Baltimore is led by their 4 all stars including 2B Silver Slugger Erubiel Alberto, 3B Russ Holt, LF Cristobal Pulido, and SP Moe Washington. They also have some young promising pitchers in emerging SP Steve Bour, as well as prospects SP Ken Moss, SP Tony Fernandez, and SP prospect Virgil Harley. They're in good shape to remain a contender, so they're a good fit for someone who likes an established team and wants to take them to the next level.

Augusta (71-91)
Two years removed from having the #1 pick, Augusta has begun a rebuild and is looking for the next owner to keep it going. Their former #1 pick Eugene Ramsey is a lefty bat but can play in the outfield or the infield. Their #6 pick from this draft Wilin Santana looks like a future stud. Other solid prospects include 2B Chico Bernadina, C Ehire Cortes, and SP Joe Pie. They also have the #7 pick in the upcoming draft, so they can continue to add good prospects to their pool. They only have $34 million committed to next season, so there is room to either add talent or go the IFA route.

NL West
Colorado (49-113)
Colorado is a MWR casualty, so the next owner gets to capitalize on the #1 pick in the draft. For a team with only 49 wins, they have some good building blocks on their roster. A move away from Colorado would likely help some of these players. SP Shea Raines is only 26, but has solid ratings and likely would have had solid numbers in another park. It's a similar story for 25 year old SP Granden Becker. Charles Crede is only 24 and is an OBP machine. Joey Germano is only 24 and could play CF or 2B and produce pretty well offensively. Gene Sheets can be a great offensive catcher. They also had the #2 pick this year in Randal Welch who looks like a solid offensive 1B. So there's a lot of upside with this team. Unfortunately, there are some large contracts to run off, so that will be an annoyance. However, the committed payroll drops to $37 million in Season 28, so it should just be a one-year annoyance.
