it's late season, I want to spend my unused cash. Looking at a FA I want to sign for a 2-year contract. I can't get past the 'contract not evenly distributed' message.
the specific example: he's asking $86,480 with 149 games in the book.
doing the math that means he's presenting an annual salary of $1,077,674
therefore, the total contract for this season and next should be the total of the two - $1,164,154.
I want to make a 2-year off paying as much as possible now and as little as possible next year. My hope was to pay league minimum next year, and pay the rest of the contract value this year in a combination of salary and bonus. Any idea how to structure this that will make it work?
data point: It occurred to me that since the $86K he's asking represents a $1.1m+ annual rate, that might be over the 60% ceiling for a 2-year deal. When I reduced it try to achieve balance, I then got the "you're offer must have been a joke" message.
