Due to some vacation plans, a spot has opened up and we need somebody to jump in for a few franchise drafts. These are short 5-round drafts that last only 4-5 days.

The next draft (A's) will start in a few days, with the Giants draft starting shortly after the end of the A's draft, etc. The first round is typically off the clock and we are always seem to be way ahead of the clock anyway.

Please post below if you want to jump in... You do not have to commit to all of the remaining drafts.

If you don't want to read the full rules, the draft basically is a 5-season draft, but your 5 seasons each need to come from a different 25-year time frame. You must roster 3 hitters and 2 pitchers from each year (although 4/1 is allowed from 1901-25 and 2/3 is allowed from 2001-25). You cannot roster more than 500 innings from any deadball season (which is why 4 hitters and 1 pitcher is allowed from that group).

The parity in these leagues is crazy. For example, In the Braves league, 14 of the 16 teams are within 3 wins of advancing to round 2 through 100 games. The 3/2 hitter/pitcher rule makes it tough to draft a perfect team. You will have holes somewhere. We're in the middle of the Cardinals draft now. You want a stud like Hornsby? Well, your pitching is probably going to suck. You want a stud like Gibson, you're hitting is going to be on the weaker side. In the White Sox draft, 1910 (w/ stud Ed Walsh) got drafted in round 3 because there are literally no other good players on that roster (yet you have to roster 5 players).

This "3/2 hitter/pitcher" rule makes for some interesting strategies. Some prefer balance even though none of the players are studs. Some prefer getting a team with 1-2 studs early and figuring out the rest in later rounds.
