mfoster, the world in question is public. I was hoping someone else would point that out but they've allowed you to keep parroting the same incorrect statement over and over.

Feel free to hold out all he wants...assets vs. liabilities when did this turn into accounting 101 I thought this was a game. Why expect WIS to give you anything? It is a Private World it's the owners and commissioners responsibilty to fill the world...why not just roll to world public and keep winning your WS titles againt know nothing noobs.
If the world had any value and his actions were destroying it, I would understand your anger. But this world is already dead and I fail to see how his actions are hurting anybody. IMO, he's not expecting WIS to give him anything, he's just waiting to see if he gets lucky. Why throw away something that might get him something for free?

I believe he ask WIS to combine the league with another league so he could keep his very talented team. They told him that wasn't a possiblity.
Wrong. Go read the classifieds that you like to post out of context. You'll get the real answer there

I just read it...and I seen this as a solution posted in the world chat of the league and I did say I BELIEVE

I believe it may have been private at one time, though I'm not sure about that or when it stopped being private. I didn't pay that much attention to that part of it, but I think it was public when I picked up threester's team last year. That says a lot about the league and the commish (if there is one) too...

It wasn't exactly free. He purchased something and, with time and work, made it more valuable. The question is how valuable? Put it on ebay and you'll be mocked. Keep it while WifS stumbles around for a solution to a problem that's not really their problem to solve and maybe he gets something.

Except whatever value he built into it evaporated when the world died.

Except the world isn't dead.

Will it fill? Unlikely.

Is it active? Yep.

I'd love to condemn harthj, piehole and anyone else holding out for a gift. But I can't. They invested time and money into the product. The product has value. Maybe it's only the credit they'd get if they pulled their team. But, with WifS making offers and statements of other solutions, why shouldn't they see what happens?

I think the better question is why is WIS offering them credit at all?

I'd say that it failed miserably, since one of the conditions of the offer was that it needed unanimous acceptance. It just takes one (out of 15) to ruin it. And that's exactly what happened.

I wouldn't see this as a poor precedent.

The fact is there's no incentive to leave. The only cost to staying in the league is the credit that is being used as a placeholder in the league. If at some point he wanted to renew another team, but didn't have any available credits or $25 to spare, then it costs him to sit there. But at this point, why not wait and see?

For markets to work efficiently, however, failing businesses need to be allow to fail and close. The same goes for HBD worlds. The big difference is that there are no ongoing operating costs to keep your failing world from dying. Invest $25 and you can keep it going forever.

Of all the solutions I've heard, the one that makes the most sense to me is to allow the sim to run open teams. It's a win-win all around. WIS gets to actually cash in on the teams that have paid for that season, owners get to actually play the game, and WIS gets closer to having the committed owners renew. After a certain period of time (say 4 weeks), let the sim take over available teams.

It would take a lot less development than moving a team to another world. And I believe it happens in Hoops Dynasty, doesn't it?

There has to be diminishing rewards for winning a SIMMY populated world. And there has to be a limit on how many teams team can be SIM ran.
