Joes Not Pros v4 (FULL!) Topic

I think the worst scenario may be to end up with players that have similar warts...

- A bunch of high usage, low percentage gunners
- Two inefficient stinkers who are only 100% at PG
- A crop of guys who foul a lot and/or turn the ball over a lot
- No rebounding whatsoever

Any one or two of these Joes can be worked around. The real twist of the knife is in the combination of players.

Joes: Eddy Curry, Bobby Jackson, Caron Butler, Chris Wilcox

Pros: Bob McAdoo, Michael Redd, Carlos Boozer, Reggie Miller

Agreed with all LTB stated above. Nice picks Garyman. Way to shoot down one of my master plans by making that person a PRO!

anytime, vance!

Got 'em, gary.

There's some interesting raw material to work with. A center who doesn't rebound, a point guard who doesn't pass (or shoot well, for that matter)...what's not to like?

a lot of nice players still that could be blacklisted, choosing the Pros was harder than the Joes.. had to get rid of more 3 point bombers. Surprised Richmond and Antoine Walker (what?!) were blacklisted before those other 2 were.

about the Joes, Butler is definitely the best of those 4. Curry's FG% makes him tolerable.. Wilcox is a very limited player and lord help anyone who gets Jackson.

Part of the blacklisting is seeing players that were heavily used in previous editions of Joes and pros. RIchmond is a pretty good scorer with high useage. If in, he wil end up on a high number of teams.

Not all of us have played each of the previous 3 times, to know which Pro's are most often used. Granted my experience is limited to the modern era, but Antoine Walker statistically is a decent player, even if he was never really that great in real-life.

The Walker pick made some sense to me, since I've seen him occasionally in this version of the sim. While his efficiency is a bit dreadful, he fits one of the current trends - playing a RL power forward at the small forward spot. Walker is a terrible PF in this game, but gives a rebounding boost and some 3s at SF.

And as I was saying with Richmond:

fifty+ percent EFG:
High Usage.(Near 30%)
Acceptable rebounding for a guard
Acceptable Assist% for a guard.
Not terrible turnovers, can steal a little.

Can play both guard and Small forward at 100%. If you ended up with some low useage non scorers, Richmond woudl be a quite useful Palliative.

OK, I've been trying to resist, but I think I need to get in this - haven't done it since the first one. I keep checking the page every day to see who's been added to the lists, so might as well do it.

Pros:

Swen Nater
Kevin Johnson
Kevin Willis
Wes Unseld

(no one felt like getting rid of a lot of the big-time rebounders, huh?)

Joes:

Jack Nichols (watch him gleefully shoot you out of games!)
Russell Westbrook (hooray for inefficiency!)
Bryant "Big Country" Reeves (impressive defensive credentials!)
Fatty Taylor (at least he plays defense!)

some of you are also way too nice with your Joes...Danny Granger? Chris Mullin? Come on!

by the way...there is a rule that you can't get your own Joes, right?

If not, there should be ;)

Great to have you back, tarheel! This should be a good time.

No, I'm afraid it's perfectly possible (although unlikely) that any of us could end up with one or more of the guys we threw onto the list. Trades are very much allowed, though, if you can convince someone to take 'em off your hands.

amerk1180 has sitemailed that he'll join, so we have just four spaces .

OK guys, lemme catch up a sec. I'm to understand that the pro's are blacklisted and no one can use any of their years, am I right? Under that assumption, here are my pro's:

The Big E, Elvin Hayes (does many things well, big salary)

Tim Legler (the last of the great 3 pt shooters)

Billy Cunningham (great D, does many other things well too) &

Walt Bellamy (by a hair over Dirk Nowitzki)

And now here are my god awful Joe's:

Bobby Davies (although a local hero here when he played for the Rochester Royals....his under 40% shooting % and over 23 usg will have to frustrate you)

Larry Cannon (29% usg and 44% eFg, along with 5.4 TO/48)

Ray Felix (I can't believe no one put him out there yet) &

Tommy Heinsohn (26% usg, 43.4 eFg, 5.5 Fp48 & 16.5 D reb%)

How'd I do for a first time?

2/27/2010 3:57 AM
Nowitzki isn't a pro yet? Wow.
