just to reiterate, i am undecided on the issue. i just don't see how this is going to significantly change the landscape, as some have suggested.

maybe a 1/2 way compromise can be reached... and you get half the money for scholarships over 6?

Z, show me one team in any world, losing multiple players to EE, who has low prestige.

GO!

Or 1/2 monies for every walk-on over 1 from the previous year? And that would go for all teams?

Fair enough. In this case, I got into two battles for players and ended up losing. For me, the most fun part of the game is recruiting. Whether there is a limit or not is not going to affect how I recruit/play the game. I just dont see why we penalize coaches for going all out and trying to get the players they want. My "penalty" is losing out on the players I was targetting. I'd rather see coaches battle and take walkons than have no recruiting battles.

Really Zhawks? Its that difficult to recruit as a A prestige team from a power conference in D1 with $100-120k and 7 open?

I have regularly signed 3 and 4-stars for $10-20k with a B prestige. Seems like I would have to spend even less for them if I was a A prestige team.

UCLA/Texas/Kansas/UNC/Syracuse seem to have no trouble making the final four most years. Its not like that most years the Power 6 elite aren't making the NT.

Maybe you cannot sign 7 5-star guys, but have to slum it with a few 3-stars.

Sully, thoughts on 1/2 monies for every additional walk-on after the first?

Yes it is with how geographically restricted that recruiting is.

GO
In Tark, my Georgetown team lost 2 players to EE in season 39. That season, I went to the PI championship and ended with a B+ prestige. Now B+ is not horrible but that hurt losing two guys that season without making the NT. Maybe it was my coaching that made me miss the NT, but that is besides the point!

reinsel you fail to understand that this situation was completely 100% outside my control. I did not choose to have 8 openings.

I would be fine for that. I would be fine either way to be honest. I just dont like how a change was made, a few people complain and the change is undone. I also dont like how some people think they are the only ones who know what is best for the game.

havent read through the whole thread, so sorry if i repeat some thoughts...

this is moronic (at DI). is seble republican? this is the rich, getting richer. yea, its nice to have a bit of extra cash if you have 7/8 openings, but when the A+ schools have them, its just going to make the even more unstoppable than they already are in recruiting...

i always though recruiting money should not be a flat rate. ....

something like this: First two schollies you get $16k/each. Next two you get $13k/each. Next two you get $10k/each. from there on drop it by $2k each schollie.

So here's your money. . .

1- $16k
2- $32k
3- $45k
4- $58k
5- $68k
6- $78k
7- $86k
8- $92k
9- $96k

i once had a team who had 2 seniors, 0 walkons. the 2 seniors were 2 of the worst 3 players on the team. all set for next year, right? wrong. instead, 5 early entries, including all 3 of my bigs and my single sf, and a pg. leaving me with 5 guards. yes, i was a little annoyed i had to recruit handicapped. i try very hard to avoid going over 6 openings at any time, because it really is a significant disadvantage. remember you are competing against guys with 5 openings, who can afford to take 3 players to your 5, but they have 100k to your 115. for those who don't think that is a disadvantage, i wonder, have you recruited at high level d1? anyway, that is where i see the merit in all this.
