At some point, I was told that non-BCS teams cannot rise above A-. Unfortunately, I do not remember where that info came from.

One thing to keep in mind about the way prestige is done, it only takes one bad season for someone like Montana to see a lot of their gains slip away as the pull of the baseline is like an anchor. That to me is the greater flaw of the system.

As far as a NC? A NC 5 seasons ago means ZERO in the current system. Again, a huge flaw.

That's more a function of baseline isn't it, dalt--the low ACC team compared to Montana. And if I could quote Jim Mora, "baseline sucks."

I won't really speak to your first comparison. Montana is an A- with a better resume. Reinsel is B+. Your argument is that the spread should be greater which is subjective. How much? Some would argue there is quite a bit of benefit recruiting with a 1/3 letter grade advantage over a similar budgeted midmajor team.

I think your point is that irl, your Montana would be more like a Memphis was with Calipari where mid major budgets, conference $ from tournament winnings and conference affiliation meant very little in its effort to compete for top recruits.

And I would just like to say that we here at Wichita State, while in some HD members eyes are totally underserving of our B+ prestige, are pretty excited about it, so as the great Babs sings "don't rain on my parade" :)

I am sure I will lose to some crappy team in the first round again this year and be back to a B/B- soon enough.

5 draft picks after the NT did push the prestige up to an A-, so I think it is safe to consider that it was a low B+.

I think that WIS needs to add a coaching prestige grade that will combine with school prestige for recruiting purposes. This also might make recruiting a little less formulaic, at least for a few seasons until people figure out the relationship between the 2 prestiges and effort.
