or wilt
Or Bill or Shaq...
Wilt would have never stopped Olajuwon..neither would Mr. 6'9 Bill Russell, and we saw how well Shaq played against Dream when it counted.

They were great, but if put in the same era Olajuwon would have been the more dominant player.

i wonder if the dream could have handled championship lakers shaq though....he was probably the most dominant force of all time during that stretch...forget wilt, shaq woulda averaged 60 during the 61-62 season

spoken by a youngster who never saw wilt play, nor russell... haha. good god, dh, i can hardly believe you said that. you guys really have no idea about wilt's ability, do ya. nice try with shaq. wilt played against bigger and stronger that shaq, that's for sure. as far as the dream is concerned, hakeem in his prime against wilt in his prime would be a much better match-up to watch. lots of fireworks and acrobatic moves. i would pay good money to see that. russell was the smartest defender i've ever seen, with the exception of jordan. shaq would be out of his element. hell, wilt would just run shaq to death, the way he did against many opponents. they'd leave the game, and wilt would just keep on ticking. shaq would need too many time outs to keep up. hakeem was built much better to play against wilt. wilt was faster than shaq with his hands, feet, and brain, and a hellava lot more versatile. you also forget, wilt studied his opponents closely during games and always exploited their tendancies. shaq would foul out by the time the 4th period started.

this is true...i didnt get to see them live or anything...but i have seen a lot of clips of them and even some espn classic replays

i think you may be forgetting how well shaq moved for a man his size...not to mention his incredible touch around the basket

i dont agree about wilt playing against bigger and stronger opponents...every game i see of wilt, hes dunking on some dude that looks like brian cardinal...and the players doubling or digging in?...they were 6'2 white guys...not 6'7 athletic black guys that can actually affect a 7 footer

anywho...its two different eras so its always hard to compare fairly...as a youngster no one is gonna tell me shaq isnt the most dominant(not best) big man of all time just like no one is gonna tell an older guy like you that it isnt wilt

Ncih if postage is a no show, and jweb pulls out, I will be happy to take on a second team. Anything to help the draft move along.

"as a youngster no one is gonna tell me shaq isnt the most dominant(not best) big man of all time just like no one is gonna tell an older guy like you that it isnt wilt"

well, i'm open to any changes to my thinking and beliefs, and of course, when the next great big man comes along, i will always compare him to wilt and hakeem, and maybe, even shaq. but the list is long and distinguished as to the number of gorillas wilt played against, unlike shaq who never played against the level of competition that wilt did.

anyway, you make valid points, hombre.

good job, vancem!

Great jweb, welcome aboard, I hope!

Best center ever - Bill Russell.  Eleven championships & twelve finals in thirteen seasons.  Unbelievable!  And he wasn't able to move to a contender beacuse of free agency or get with a couple of all-star buddies and decide to try and form a dynasty.

Best offensive center (when the game wasn't important and he wasn't playing against Russell) - Wilt.  His stats speak for themselves.

Best disguise artists - Walt Bellamy and Nate Thurmond.  I never would have suspected they were 6' 2" white guys!
