If I had to guess, Yatzr put in 100's of hours updating and building tools for GD. So a "donation" for additional features shouldn't be that big of a deal. His recruiting tool for GD has literally saved me weeks of time over 40 seasons. Allowing me to do other **** besides stare at huge columns of numbers. The time it saves me in itself is worth $10
100s of hours? Lol...gtfo.

Also, again, just because someone spent time on something doesnt mean its worth buying or they should be paid for their work. I seem to recruit as well if not better than u in about a 10th of the time...
lol, you sure like to talk like you know what I've actually done for GD.  I've been working on GD tools, and other code for various GD statistics and analysis, on and off for 3.5 years.  If I had to guesstimate, I'd put it somewhere around 400 hours total.  You crack me up.
I'm not calling you a liar, but that still seems a bit high...I would think that someone that knows what they're doing in the world of computer programming doesn't need that much time to set stuff up...I mean, what'd this scraper tool take you, like an hour or 2?

I find billyg's/gillispie's posts to be rather humorous and ironic because I thought he was a really cool guy and I was thrilled as hell when I faced him in one of my first ever NT appearances in Tark, and then I see/saw his posts here and what a huge letdown...very pompous and arrogant.

As far as I go, I've pretty much created my reputation (though I've been misunderstood a few/many times as well) but if I couldn't take what comes with posting under my name, then I wouldn't do it.  I do have some differing viewpoints and opinions and I'll speak out when I think something needs to be said...using the word "donation" when you're making people pay to use your product rubbed me the wrong way, and no one was saying anything about it...thus I piped up.  I don't want to fight/argue with anyone, I'm really a non-confrontational guy that is rather well-respected in conference (though I don't want to speak for my conference mates), but I'll take on the world/everyone by myself if that's what needs to happen...I'm not going to lay down for anyone and I think that's what bothers people more than what I say...how persistent I am and the fact that I won't go away/back off my stance just because people think I should.

Again, I think it's great that yatzr's making money here, but be straight up about it...I created this thing, it costs $10, who's down?  A donation is voluntary, a payment is mandatory, that's what I took exception with, it's done, let's move on.

PS, last I checked, there's still a "Block this user" link/tab in these forums...I certainly don't advocate it, but it's there for those who find it necessary...

It would be hilarious if colonels19 and cbg were the same guy.

He wishes...

Ignorant blowhard at his best.

It's not that you are unwilling to back down- its your inability to grasp the nature of whatever it is that you are debating. You previous post proved that. You have NO IDEA how long it takes to make those tools, but you still assume he's not telling the truth.

I figure people "in the know" can do stuff a lot faster than I can do it...100s of hours just seems like a stretch and an insult to yatzr's intelligence...simple progs can't take that long.

Getting it to work elegantly, consistantly and without bugs? Takes a LONG time.

Translation:

"On this subject, I don't know what I'm talking about... Now here are some claims that can only be taken seriously if I really know what I'm talking about."

Similar:

"I'm sure "trained surgeons" can remove an appendix faster than I can... A whole day, maybe two, in the hospital just seems like a stretch and an insult to the surgeon's intelligence.  Simple surgery can't take that long."

Completely unaware that more is involved than the cutting and stitching back up.

Reply indicating that he doesn't understand how analogies work in 3... 2... 1...

Well, not that I dont' agree that colonels is being chodetastic, but I'm not sure about that analogy...
5/18/2012 5:13 PM
Perhaps it was a little knotty.  I'm not saying coding = surgery.  I'm saying there's more than typing stuff.  Surgery is more than cutting stuff.
5/18/2012 5:23 PM
Yeah, I got it.  I just had a problem with the recovery time/surgery part.  No big deal.

A bit ironic, isn't it?  Saying that Colonels doesn't understand how analogies work and then admitting that your own analogy was "a little knotty" and having to explain what you were trying to say?  Relax, just busting your hump a little.....
