But let's say you are right. Maybe natural immunity does protect better than the vaccine. My question to you is why even bring it up? Why did you think it would be relevant? What policy prescriptions would you offer based on that?
Because even the Israeli study showed that vaccinations are still beneficial to those who already had COVID. Experts are unanimous on that issue.
YOU decided to bring the argument up. Would love to see you justify it.
Policy prescriptions? Covid should be over from a public policy standpoint. As i've always said, the governments role is to protect people from other people, not from themselves. Vaccinated people are at virtually no risk from the unvaccinated. If someone is dumb enough not to get vaccinated, that is on them. The government's role in the pandemic should be over.
Biden said in his speech the other night promoting his unconstitutional mandates that if you're vaccinated, you are safe and then went on to say that we have to protect the vaccinated from the unvaccinated. Which is it? Does the vaccine work or not? For politicians, Covid has become an opportunity to seize more power. That in itself may prove to be much more dangerous than Covid over the long haul.
Man, I'm disappointed in this analysis. You can do better.
The spread of the virus is still bad for unvaccinated people, for a variety of reasons.
1. It is still possible that vaccinated individuals get COVID and have serious effects, even if it is far less likely.
2. The more COVID spreads, the more likely it is that variants are created that might bypass the vaccine's effectiveness.
3. The more COVID spreads, the less likely it is that we as a society can return to normal. I'd personally like to be done with this virus, and the more people that get vaccinated the more safe "back to normal" will be.
4. Unvaccinated people dying is bad too. I would prefer less death, if it is at all possible, not just on a moral level, but also from a societal one. The more people that die, the worse it is for the general health of a society, economy, etc.
I'm probably missing something, but those are a few obvious reasons why unvaccinated people are a danger to everyone, not just themselves. We obviously disagree on what the government should be used for. I personally believe that the government should strive to protect my freedom to live in a world that isn't ridden with plague.
