I just picked up a new copy of Summer of '49 by David Halberstam to read while this season is going on. My old copy was beyond repair. Hope it's as good as I remember.

I love that book and try to read it every few years. This is the time of year that I try to find a baseball book to read so I can gear up for the season. This year I'm reading "Smart Baseball" by Keith Law. Fascinating book and it will change the way I watch baseball games and play fantasy baseball. After that I'm going to read "Yogi" by John Pessah. Can't wait. Last year I read "Ballpark" by Paul Goldberger which is a history of ballpark design and architecture. I highly recommend it.

David Halberstam is probably my favorite author of all time, writing equally well on sports and history. "The Best and the Brightest" is such a fantastic (and yet painful to read) book.
