The 52 Draft League - Rosters/Commentary Topic

Drafted rosters are updated on p. 1.

A couple thoughts:

1) We could do a $52 million HOF Draft Theme where all players have to be members of the HOF

2) We used to put a limit on the amount of assists a team could have. I'd be all for trying a
$52 or $47 Theme with a team cap on 3 pointers attempted.

I like option 1)
or
all players must play a minimum of ten years in the database
that would eliminate the past decade and bring players like Oscar, Jerry, Havlicek &
my personal fav Bailey Howell more into play

Are there 288 NBA Hall of Famers?

I just checked, there's 178 counting Sweetwater Clifton who is not in the sim.

I guess you could have a 7 player per team draft of hall of famers and fill in the rest somehow.

Or just no seasons allowed after 1998-99.

If you had an 09-10 cut off that would cut out a lot of the 3 pointers issue. Or possible 93-94 if you want even less. Some of those 94-97 seasons with the shortened line have some dumb stats

If you guys want to try something really challenging, what about the Under $7 Million Dollar League?

Only players who never had any season with a salary of $7M or more are eligible. So no superstars at all, everybody would have to study up on lesser players. Just a 4 round draft with 2 players picked in round 4, and then you fill in your other 7 players.

The most expensive player available is 1990-91 Tyrone Corbin at $6,999,475 as he doesn't have any higher salaried season than that.

So far just 5 owners are in:

It’s an interesting idea I can only justify so much money spent on wis though.

samuelyork93 – Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson, Julius Erving, Al Horford, Jaylen Brown, Mo Bamba, Joel Przybilla

What I Like: Great offensive rebounding. I think it is becoming a more important stat as we go. Some solid mid round picks with Jaylen and Horford. I have had great results from them in the past. Solid post defense. Mo Bamba is an interesting player, I just wish his defense was better. Good foul shooting except Wilt.
Concerns: I think you are going to have some fatigue issues at guard. Im assuming you are playing Dr. J at SG, Magic at point and Jaylen to back up both? I just do not think it is enough. Your 3pt shooting is low, as really only 3 guys are going to give you a decent amount. I also feel like you picked 1 too many Centers especially with Wilt on the squad. Instead of Przybilla I would have went with another guard or SF that can play guard. You still might have been able to get Przybilla after the draft.
Conclusion: I feel like this team can make the playoffs. Wilt teams are always good and you EFG% might get you there. Just have to watch out for fatigue and Magic and Wilt TO's.

berkelon – Lebron James, Scottie Pippen, Artis Gilmore, Jarrett Allen, Jarred Vanderbilt, Marvin Williams, Amare Stoudemire

What I Like: Great wing defense with Lebron and Pippen. Should be a fun combo. I like your usage to efg% distribution where Lebron and Amare should see most of the action. Artis and Pippen wont hurt it either if the take the shots. Marvin seems to be underrated in these drafts as I usually see him on championship teams. I Like your potential starting lineup with Bron at point. I see this team winning a lot of games early in the season.
Concerns: You are scraping by with 19200 min. It can be done but it is hard managing that fatigue. You have a low amount of threes and assists. Assists are becoming less important but it might hurt you when you have to rest Lebron. Artis will be fouling a lot, and his backups of Allen and Amare are not going to provide great defense when he is on the bench.
Conclusion: This team can make the playoffs but you might be limping in due to fatigue issues. I love the EFG%, low TO's and overall defense is solid.

longtallbrad – Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Dikembe Mutombo, Patrick Ewing, Gerald Wallace, Jeremy Lin, DeMarcus Cousins

What I Like: Your defense should be great. I am doing this without seeing your final team so I have no idea what seasons you have. You have great inside/outside options with Curry and Ewing as Im assuming they will be the focus of your offense. Green is great at doing just about everything and can really boost your assist numbers while playing good defense. Mutombo and Ewing are a fearsome front court.
Concerns: Im not a big fan of your last 3 picks. Wallace is a great defender and rebounder, but lacks in scoring which I think this team needs more of. Lin I know has that one really good EFG and high defense season but he plays almost no minutes in that season so im not sure how useful he will be. Im kinda confused by Boogie Cousins. He puts up a lot of points and rebounds, but if you are using a season where he plays a lot of minutes his usage is like 28 plus with like a 42 EFG, which is gross, but you may be using a more support role season with better shooting.
Conclusion: Im gonna go with my gut and say this team misses the playoffs. You have great defense and solid rebounding, but I think you need a better supporting cast for Curry. Your team will live and die on him.

beachhouse – Nikola Jokic, Deron Williams, Shawn Kemp, Charlie Ward, Elton Brand, Jose Calderon, Charlie Edge

What I Like: The Elton Brand pick was great. I passed on him a few times, but thought he should have been already taken. He and Kemp should make up for Jokic's lack of D. Also having one of them coming off the bench will help you second unit immensely. You have a strong amount of assists which will help your EFG%
Concerns: This team is kinda shallow. You are going to rely a lot on Jokic, Brand, Kemp, and Williams having good games all the time to compete as your bench does not really impress. You need more rebounding and drafting 7 PG's does not help. Really low threes.
Conclusion: Im going to say this team misses the playoffs. Jokic is going to have the sim season of a lifetime for this team to succeed.

jhsukow – Giannis Antetokounmpo, Klay Thompson, Joel Embiid, Zion Williamson, Danny Green, Michael Cooper, Rajon Rondo

What I Like: There is a great balance of talent on this team. This team will probably be one of the leaders in scoring with a great defense to go with it. TO's will happen but will not kill this team. I love the Green and Klay combo. You have great 3 point shooting. Michael Cooper does not get drafted a lot, but I think it should be more. He plays great defense and has good assists numbers.
Concerns: You might have a usage problem and deal with some penalties with Zion, Giannis, and Joel all over 29% and the latter over 35%. You lack a little in offensive rebounds. Willis Reed might end up taking too many shots but I see why you drafted him. He and cooper will play a lot of minutes and thier shooting is not elite.
Conclusion: I think this team will make the playoffs. If you balance the usage right this team could easily win over 50 games.

PBandJ – Shaquille O’Neal, Kawhi Leonard, Brent Barry, Andrei Kirilenko, Mark Price, Bradley Beal, Swen Nater

What I Like: This is a pretty well rounded team. There isn't any glaring negatives. Shaq and Kawhi is a great combo. Great 3 point shooting total and percentage wise. Good front court defense and low enough turnovers.
Concerns: Blake Griffin being added. I think he is going to hurt this team more than he helps it. I know he only plays 1100 min, but 29% usage for 50% EFG is not good enough for this league. Plus his 39 defense is putrid. You might have a usage problem with everyone except 2 players being over 19%. There will most likely be penalties, plus you want to make sure Shaq gets the ball as much as possible and it will be hard to do that with your current build.
Conclusion: I feel like this is a fringe team that will battle for the last playoff spot in their division. They will be great at times, but will also lose games they probably should have won.

Some notes:
1. To address my eval. I have enough minutes at both G spots. I actually have too many, I am probably going to have play magic 2-4 minutes at the 3 spot because I am also going to have to play at least one scrub at the G spots too because they only let me put so many players playing at the SF spot. Also, I have 3s coming from 4 players(Magic, Jaylen, Horford, and Bamba), which I think will give me just enough to prevent those -2, -3 defenses.
2. At first glance I thought I had plenty of money but 2.9 mil for 18 min is not "optimal". My bench has one more good bench player than 4 under 300 min scrubs. Ended up using almost all my money and have 19,513 minutes. Have just enough haha
4. Only reason I have 99.9 cumulative usage% is bc while drafting.... and really all the time I am bad at math... I could draft a different Magic to make it better but I think I'll still be better off with who I have bc I'll lose precious 3s if I do.
3. My Fouls are concerning I think and Im not a fan of my FT% but otherwise I am super confident!..... Which means losing season here I come!!!

More to come........
WHY are you only comments on the 6 draftees? You can see the rest of the team on the league page. Just click on the dot after the team's name in the standings, and then when the new page pops up you can click on the team name and see the roster. Here's mine anyway:

Because this takes time. It probably took over an hour or two to complete what he already did.
