He will eventually probably have to take a bad deal from Iran to avoid American casualties from a ground invasion. A bad deal would mean a surrender.

Ukraine is now winning the war. Putin is not ready to surrender. He wants an exit ramp like Trump wants one in Iran. But Putin is a fanatic.

The war will continue in a few days. The only way it can stop is if Russia accepts much less then it has been fighting for and Zelensky gets security that he and Europe accept. Ukraine will not make certain concessions so Russia will have to accept a face saving end to the war.

For now the war goes on until Russia says UNCLE.

Russia already broke the ceasefire with significant air strikes into residential areas. Ukraine was generally successful.

There are rubes out there who actually think that Trump did something significant. Actually insignificant.
So he jumped in and beat his chest about brokering a 3 day period that both sides already said they wanted not for peace but to exchange prisoners.
