No. The Great Jimmy Powell pitches, or pitched, more innings. Plus, at this point, it would be like trading one of your kids.

Our world just rolled over, and my best SP is a FA this year. He would not sign an extension last year stating that he was testing free agency.

We haven't even set budgets yet, but currently, he's asking for a 2 year deal worth $8,750,000 per year. His player remarks state, "Let's be honest, I'll play for whoever shows me the money."

My question is... is there any indication at this point of whether or not he will re-sign with me or will go straight to FA?

Has the sim FA logic changed recently? I have guys that are going to be free agents that are 32 year old position players that want 4 years at 7.5 a year and 38 year old pitchers that want $5.8 million (these are not HOF type players)

I would expect him to say "I'm testing FA no matter what". That's my experience with those who won't sign at the end of the year.

Not to my knowledge.

The guy referenced in my question above is Doug Peters. Assuming he signs and knowing I'll be competing after his contract, how long would you sign him for? 5 yrs puts him at 37. What would be your preferred length of contract?
4/9/2017 3:04 PM
37 isn't bad. He'll get a max deal. I'd do that.
4/9/2017 3:13 PM
Let's keep playing. If jmarkey offers him a second consecutive max deal, being his previous franchise, does that automatically mean he gets Peters back, or can another team jump him with higher rated coaches and/or pitchers' park?
4/9/2017 4:04 PM
I've yet to see a max player not sign with previous team IF they offered max deal.
4/9/2017 5:24 PM
I'm starting to see inter league politics and jockeying. Did jmarkey make a mistake asking too many questions about Peters in a public forum?

Maybe but, if jm86 gets a decent PC before he signs, I don't think he's in any danger of losing him.
4/9/2017 8:27 PM
Also, what would you do in this situation.

this turd of a baseball player wants $6.6 million in arb. Should I just release him and wash my hands of all of this? If I were to lowball at 3 or 4 million am I going to get screwed?
4/9/2017 8:49 PM
No way do I risk paying that dude 6.6m. Release-o-rama, IMO.
4/9/2017 8:59 PM
My PC is the best in the world and wants to stay for $3M plus I play in a pitchers park. Crossing my fingers. I'm hoping he doesn't test FA.

Another question... What is the easiest way to tell which arbitration year they are in? It's easy when the salaries are straight forward: $343k, $360k, $378k, Arb 1, Arb 2, but sometimes I see $343k, $360k, $1.2m which has to be Arb 1.

So, is there another way I can tell which Arb year a player is in and if so, what am I looking for?

Your typical 3B but how bad would he be in CF, or even 2B? Thanks.

If you open the player card, transactions, you can see how many times a player has been arbed.

He'd be better than average at 2B. Lot of negative plays in CF. Range is too low.
