Canucks Thread - We Still Believe Topic

After almost 40 years as a Canucks fan this song and dance is getting a bit old.  For only the second time in 40 years did I have some confidence in this team that they could actually win.  Warm fuzzy feeling gone and major headache in its place.

Although I wouldn't put all the blame on Luongo.  Pretty much everyone F$%ked the dog for the past 2 games.

So what if management sticks with Luongo, and he loses the next 2 in ugly fashion? what do we do with this guy? 10 more years with a guy that cant win any big games? can they buy him out? i would hate to lose Schneider,he is our future,he is a good goalie already,..he is going to be great..3 years of same old same old ..how many chances does a guy get?..its true that everybody has been terrible the last 2 games but Luongo waffling on that Hossa wrist shot that 99% of the starters in the league wouldve stopped just totally deflates the team and swaps momentum over to the Hawks..sometimes,actually a lot of the time the truly great goalies with all the rings make the tough saves look routine and stop the majority of the shots they had no right in stopping..that is a winner in my books..like Fuhr and Roy ..lets stop kidding ourselves ,Luongo is nowhere near that category of "great goalie" and im afraid itll be more of the same come Sunday if he starts ? i dont think he is mentally tough enough to take on  the demons of his past in Chicago, in that rink, against that team..Schneids needs to start..if he loses? so what ? he cant be any worse than Luongo has the last 2 games..and ill be willing to bet he is way better and the team will respond to Schneider being in net ..

Glad to see Torres didn't get suspended as that was a beauty CLEAN hit. But elder should probably get one game. Won't comment on the games but man was it sweet to see Bieksa get dropped by the second non-fighter he went after. Canucks have it in six. Unfortunately. Luigi will bounce back
Wrong...the talentless hack targeted the head of a guy who didn't have the puck.  That's a dirty hit.  Christ, I never have seen such a clueless and WHINY fanbase.  If you doubt me,  this proves my point...

Have fun with your summer after Tuesday night.  We all know that team of mental midgets is done for.

The issue is that you risk losing Luongo completely if you bench him now, and that won't be good news going in to round 2 because he actually has an excellent record against every other team in the playoffs.

FYI, Vigneault has already announced Lu as the game 6 starter. I think that's a good move. If it's a complete disaster again (which I highly doubt), then Schneider maybe starts game 7. I think the Canucks put an end to the nightmare Sunday night personally. A team of their quality can not and will not have 3 games like that in a row. I'm looking for a huge game from Ryan Kesler to carry his team into the next round.

The Canucks are done.  They have no heart and have no ability to deal with adversity, unless you count cheap-shotting a way of dealing with it.  Hawks are showing the heart of champions....Vancouver is showing they have no heart.

You can thank our goalie forgiving you life..And if Luongo is so fragile that he may be lost as you Andru, then he is not the goalie to lead this team any further..you need to have thicker skin than that to win a cup..I know you Hawk fans would love to see him back in there getting shelled

Playoffs are not about hurting somebody's  feelings, if Luongo pouts after playing so lousy and Vigneault benches him..he just needs to shut his trap and be agood teammate and wait to see if he gets another chance? he has had 2 playoffs and now a crack at a 3rd chance and he has yet to prove he can beat the Hawks..why should the fans of Vancouver and his teammates have to suffer? either you can get the job done or move over and let someomne else do it

I don't disagree with your assessment of luongo randle, but not to hold the rest of this team accountable and blame one guy isn't fair this time. the Sedins have been invisible for 3 out of the 5 games, Kesler has yet to score, and Burrows has been a non factor. the only guys that have pulled their weight every game have been Hansen and elder. Time for ALL the big guns to step up including Luongo, and I believe they will in game 6.

Of course you do.  You're pessimistic about everything.

Ill be shocked if Luongo stones the Hawks Sunday ,i truly will be ..he doesnt have the stones..its not in his make up..only way Vancouver wins is if they play a great game in front of him and limit the quality chances..ive seen this movie too many times to see it any differently
4/22/2011 8:50 PM
We do need the Sedins to step up however, been invisible when it counted..Kesler has played Toews to a wash, both checking each other into the ground..Burrows has been a non factor and needs to up his game.  Henrik and daniel  need to check their Swedish man purses at the door and get dirty ..time to sacrafice a few teeth and come out of game 6 with fat lips and cuts from Bolland the "elbow" stick..do whatever it takes..

when did  we trade Luongo to the Penguins??

4/23/2011 1:29 PM
I heard a couple times today watching the games that a few  Gm's and ex coaches would start Schneider in a game 7 if Luongo loses for the 3rd time. especially in ugly fashion..Im softening on my stance about starting  Luongo in game 6 , but if he looks shaky or gives up a softee early..I hope Vigneault pulls him before its too late  this time

i'd start schneider in game six, and then if he loses go back to luongo in game seven.  on most teams i wouldn't even consider going to the backup, but schneider is probably the best backup in the league, and will be a starter somewhere in the next couple years.  he's proven he can get it done in the regular season.  maybe he could pull a cam ward.  :>
